Golf was the most difficult to master, I didn’t master it but you know what I mean.

The hardest on my body was CFB. Lower level, wasn’t that great at that either.

The most taxing would have to be boxing. We boxed 2 minute rounds and 3-4 rounds would have you mentally and physically exhausted.

That clip you included reminded me of one of my cousins deciding he wanted to go jogging with me one day to start trying to get in shape.

I routinely did 5+ miles a run and told him he could quit any time he wanted but I'd keep going. He showed up at my house in shorts, tee and tennis shoes and after we stretched a bit and got ready to run, he lit a damn cigarette. Made it 2 blocks and quit, never to be seen again when I ran.

We still laugh about that to this day.

Squaring up a baseball consistently that is coming at you 90+ mph with movement is the hardest thing to do in competitive sports

You could blindly swing the bat and have a chance at contact

I don’t think anyone here could take a handoff in a run heavy set and score from the 3 in the nfl without getting killed

Also maintaining weight. It's a 24 hour a day proposition. I have a friend that won a gold medal in the Olympics so much higher level than I. To see what he endured was crazy.

its estimated only 5% of high school pitchers throw 90+. I think its less likely than you think.

So 1 out of every 20. You play 35-40 games in HS baseball. That’s a lot of pitchers you’re seeing. The guy is right. If you’re playing at a somewhat high level in Louisiana HS baseball you’re probably going to see 90+ a couple times a year. That’s not unreasonable to say.

Whoever said that has never played hockey or been a goalie. Toughest position in sports.

I tried goalie a few times. I was absolutely horrible. I don't like pucks coming at me like that and I played defense for most of my hockey time.

Its always golf for everyone.

Because everyone thinks they can play it even when they're no longer young and athletic.

No one ever says, hey I'm gonna take up tackle football at 38.

There's a reason its a good walk spoiled. It fools you, and seduces you far past your athletic prime. Its sold as an ageless sport while being incredibly difficult...total poppycock that suckers us all.

I've played in several charity events with former major leaguers and about half of them can crush a drive, while the other half go completely insane because they can't.

For regular people, prolly golf. The hardest sport to play at a professional level is soccer. Try running 6 miles, with many bursts of sprints, and still be able to place a ball in perfect spots. There's a lot of mental pieces to the game as well that most on here won't understand since they've never played. And international players basically play 11 months out the year. Most NBA players don't like playing back-to-back games.

Never played, but it has to be baseball.

Catching scorched grounders bouncing on imperfect land seems impossible. Then if you manage to field it, you have to make an accurate throw while hurrying as fast as possible to a 1st baseman who’s 90-120 feet away.

Then you have to hit. You grab a bat and stand sideways while a full grown man 60 feet away throws a hard object with every ounce of power he can muster. He’s aiming 1 foot away from you. Just standing in there seems hard, but you’re actually supposed to hit the ball. And it you can’t hit the ball where one of the 8 defenders are standing, you sit the bench.

Yep

And people can’t directly compare themselves to pros in other sports

They think “hey, Baseball ain’t that hard. I can throw and catch a baseball pretty good. I can hit it pretty hard when my Buddy John tosses me one”

That would be the equivalent of saying “hey, Golf ain’t that hard. I can hit a driver pretty far. Even make a few long putts every now and then”

If some of the people who answer golf, because they see how bad they are e relative to par got to go experience how bad they are competitively in the other sports compared to pros,, it would be just as eye opening

For myself, just playing soccer against my European tennis teammates in was eye opening. They made me feel like a monkey fricking a soccer ball.

Yeah. I don't think people realize the athletic and skill gap between the NBA and the average player. A bench player from the NBA would absolutely destroy even marginal college players not good enough for the league.

I saw a video on YouTube were they took 5 guys of different levels of skill and had them play Brian Scalabrine 1 on 1. Each of them thought they could take him. He absolutely destroyed all of them.
