They have done a pretty good job adding onto it to make it more fan-friendly over the decades, but it's still very dated. Both aren't going to compete with new places with modern amenities. Hell, at Wrigley you can still be sitting behind a pole.

Other than an obstructed view, I prefer one without the modern amenities. I can piss in a trough, grab a beer and a hot dog or nachos, sit in the bleachers and be content. I don’t need surround sound blasting shite 24-7, or some facial recognition to walk into the park, or chef prepared organic foods.

ETA: probably why I liked Oakland Coliseum. The only stadium with a bad rep that is 100% earned is the Trop. That place is a soulless dump.

I've never been to either but wanna go to both. Maybe I'm becoming a boomer but I hate how modern stadiums feel like you're in a mall. My wife loves going to Astros games cause of the experience but I prefer Space Cowboys games. I just want to see the game, enjoy a dog, have a beer to two, I don't need sushi or a gourmet smash burger made by a Mexican who claims Wolfgang Puck trained him.

Pretty good analogy. I went to a Red Sox/yankees game at Fenway and thought it was like a college football game. Fans were into every pitch and saw several fights in the stands. A+ experience. Wrigley was cool too, but in a relaxing kind of way.

You would think those stadiums would have a shelf life at some point
I know they’ve done a lot at wrigley but Fenway could use plenty of upgrades

They need to tear it down and rebuild it same way in same location

I have been to both multiple times. Have had seats behind home plate and in the outfield (bleachers at Wrigley) for both. Two day games at Wrigley, day game and night game (vs Yankees) at Fenway.

They are both old and charming parks, but Wrigley was the better overall experience . There really is nothing like a day game at Wrigley.

Wrigleyville is also much better than the experience around Fenway. As crazy as the scene is around Wrigleyville pregame, there is just as big of a party happening in the bleachers way before the game starts. It's like stepping into another bar.

But honestly, it's like asking which of your children do you love the most.

Fenway felt like hallowed ground to me. Also cool seeing Clemens pitching there in the early ‘90’s.

Both are pretty cool. Went to Fenway last weekend for the first time. It was like taking a step back into time.

I’ll give Wrigley the edge due to the Wrigleyville bar district around it.

For real.

Just some nobody from Louisiana spouting nonsense and has likely never left the region.

I don’t get this mentality at all. In fact it drives me nuts.

Muh upgrades.

You’re there to watch a baseball game and take it all in. I don’t understand what else you want. I like the guy who said a lot of modern sports venues feel like you’re in a freakin shopping mall (which we barely still have anymore for shopping). Who needs a shopping mall to enjoy a sporting event?

Like what? Being old is exactly why it is revered. Remember when the Yankees built a new ballpark? It’s crapped on for lacking charm.

Wrigley by a mile. Fenway is a dump.

as much of a cultural experience as it is a sporting event

I'd so more of a cultural event and tradition.

Both are a great to visit but there's zero chance I'd be a season ticket holder at either place.

For the game experience, I prefer a day game at Wrigley. Sit in the bleachers at least one game if you go.

I am not a Cubs fan, but the Wrigley bleachers on a warm Friday afternoon in summer is baseball heaven. I did that a couple years ago, and plan to do it again.

I’ve been to both, enjoyed both, but if I could only go to one more MLB game in my life, it would be a sunny summer Saturday in Wrigley

The one thing I remember about the seats at Fenway behind the home plate area is that they were original, like from 1912, with 1912 sizes from when the average male was 5' 6". Freaking tight. Not sure if that has changed.

Wrigley seats were not like that and the bleachers are bleachers, just pack in tight and start drinking beer with 1,000 of new friends.

I’m a Cubs fan so I am biased. The Bleachers on a sunny day with a few too many beers and talking to those around you is fricking awesome. Fenway for history, but Wrigley has the experience edge and history that can stand up to Fenway.

Wrigley for me.

I've been to both, and when I went to Fenway for the first time, I sat behind the plate and the sun was setting and the cloud in the sky were pink. The Green Monster and whole outfield stands looked like a painting. I was blown away.

At Wrigley, I went to Chicago by myself on a whim and one day decided to go to a Cubs game. I was hanging out in Wrigleyville before a night game just pregaming before I bought my ticket. Some locals noticed I was alone, and we started talking, and then suddenly one of the group just says "We're gonna buy you a ticket, and you're sitting with us". I was pretty surprised. I sat in the bleachers with them and bought them beers throughout the game. They actually might've gotten the better end of the deal, but I didn't care. I like to reward generous people.

All that said, it's a tie for me.

Cubs game just got over so I hit my West Coast regular, the Dodgers. My dad is a Dodgers fan from the days when they were in Brooklyn. He's had a great run the last several years.

Point of this is, Dodger Stadium (1962) is the 3rd oldest ballpark in MLB behind Fenway (1912) and Wrigley (1914). 4th oldest is Angels Stadium (1966) and then Kauffman in Kansas City (1973). That's kind of crazy to think about. Heck, there are a few teams that have built multiple new stadiums in that time, since 1973.

ETA - went to a Royals game at Kauffman last year and that place was great. They did a renovation a few years back and nailed it.

First time to Wrigley was last year on a sunny Sunday in May vs the White Sox. Sat in the left field bleachers and had an awesome day with lots of new friends.

Went to my first Fenway game in August last year. Great timing too as it was a night game against the Pirates with Skenes pitching.

I feel like I liked Wrigley more for the whole experience but I absolutely lovwd the history of Fenway and did the tour which was excellent.

You can't go wrong either way.
