That time he cried about the other team stealing Merroidman's lights out dance knocked him from the top 5.

Or more likely it's because he just isn't quite a top 5 all time RB.

Well there's the fact that LT ranks 86th all-time in yards per rush and he didn't maintain his high level of production after the 2008 season. He also wasn't very productive in the playoffs which also hurts his case. HOWEVER, he's still among the best all-time bc he currently holds TONS of NFL records, gained 15,000 yards from scrimmage in 11 seasons, 169 total TDs and is still 5th all-time in rushing yards. Quite a remarkable career for the guy from TCU.

If anything maybe playing in San Diego maybe hurt his brand but anyone who's a student of the game knows he's elite. I remember seeing him in college and I couldn't believe some of the tiny holes he could turn into big gains.

Well. Idk what rating you are going back but he is definitely elite back of all time. He is definitely top 10 all time, probably around 7 or so off the top of my head.

gayle sayers is the most overrated NFL player of all time

since joe namath's career has been exposed and most people accept him as a better celebrity than FB player these days, sayers has moved to #1

Sayers didn't have the longetivity as some but his numbers for the era and the fact that he played on a bad team are pretty strong. He's a rich man's Terrell Davis. Maybe a tad overrated but not off the charts.

All those other guys have one of two things that LT doesn't. Either a near 5 YPC (AP is at 4.9) or longevity (Payton and Smith).

One of the greatest seasons ever.

LT is elite and he's also not a all time top 5 RB.

When you start talking about top 5 amongst a group of really great RBs, as with anything else you have to start to split hairs; "this guy won, this guy didn't, this guy didn't do it long enough, this guy played in a different era," even though most of this stuff really isn't in control of the players.

We're talking RBS not QBs

Controlling for era Sayers > TD, though I would agree Sayers doesn't belong in the Jim Brown class some try to put him in

Also TD won the MVP when he rushed for 2,000 so that should also be accounted for. Don't see any NFL MVPs on Sayers' shelf.

Somewhat a product of the zone blocking system and had a stacked team around him

That's what separates Sayers and Payton from other backs. As well as Sanders... for a majority of their careers they play on shitty teams.....
