NFL franchises are mercenaries that will pull up and move shop at the slightest hint of more money to be had elsewhere. There is no loyalty among NFL franchises to their communities and owners for the most part are just billionaires who have no connection to their city/state. The Chargers might be the best example of a dirtbag owner who moves the team in the pursuit of more money, erasing decades worth of history just for money. They now have the smallest fan base in the NFL and are thought of as a joke even though they have a good team. I really don’t understand how that team can be that much more valuable being the least followed team in LA, hell the college basketball teams there have larger fan bases.
College teams on the other hand can not move and are a great sense of pride within the local community. They remind me of the European soccer clubs in a way with the fierce pride locals have towards them and defending them. They have great traditions that have been passed down through generations of fans that have created a unique culture around them that can only be found on Saturday’s. The atmosphere of a good college game shits on the atmosphere of the best pro game. Pro teams sell their best seats for suits looking to entertain clients, college teams sell their best seats to fierce alumni who want to cheer in their team.

Football, as a whole, has become less interesting to me.
I wholeheartedly agree with the posts relaying that the NFL has become sterile. Outside of the NFL Playoffs, it has become a passive, unrelieved product to me. The quality of play is much, much better, but that doesn't make the product more enticing.
However, regarding college football, in my opinion, it has considerably trended in that same direction in a very short amount of time. To me, the '90s and early 2000s were the "golden years" of college football. I think, and I'm sure many of you will agree, that college football is a shadow of its former self.
-There is an utter and complete lack of parity;
-It is far too regionalized;
-Some rivalries and traditions are crumbling and/or are completely gone;
-Both the playoffs and conference expansion, in my opinion, has lead to more of an adverse effect to the product;
-Stadium expansions generally have lead to "watered down," corporate atmospheres;
-Residual bowl games (outside of the Playoffs) are rendered meaningless;
-More and more opt-outs will occur;
-The games are incredibly too long;
-Now, certain legislation that will pay players will further carve and split up the product
Etc...
I'll still watch both, but it just isn't the same.

What are the modern arguments for CFB being better than the NFL?
"they care about their school" "they play for the love of the game" "it's not about the money"
all the bullshite arguments that haven't been true since the 40's basically

in CFB, "pass interference" is not an automatic first down.
I hate that the NFL has 50-yard penalties.
3rd and 16? go long and hope for a flag.

Agreed…. Like I said they are controlled like robots and the refs are all in on it…..

The bands, state pride, seeing players you saw grow up, tailgating, and most of all the passion the fans have for it. With that said, frick the NFL!

Because I went to LSU and didn’t go to Saints.

College offenses are more often to watch. A home game at LSU is way more fun than a pro GameDay.
The NFL is trying to make the secondary worthless.
Other than those, I find NFL more enjoyable. It's definitely a better television product, and they've always done a better job of determining champions and creating parity across the league.

Personal preference for me.
I don’t have anything to base it off of.

The argument was always stupid. I like watching both.

What a dumb argument. I love CFB, dont get me wrong, but the NFL is a far superior product. I understand a lot of people on this board are butt hurt over the kneeling and i get that, but that doesnt mean the product put out by the NFL is any less bc they got political a few seasons ago. I will admit it is very annoying and I am glad its starting to return to normal, no one wants politics in their sports. Literally the reason 90% of people enjoy sports is to escape all that bs.

College PI is automatic first down so this point doesnt make sense

All college football for me
frick the nfl.

I like college because the elite players really stand out more. The variance in skill in the NFL is a much smaller gap. The downside to this is you get huge mismatches. No one wants to watch a top 5 team play a severely outmatched opponent.
