Kornheiser just said we're gonna run the table in group play!

said something like Donovan was gonna run by Beckham on the bench and zoom off on his way to the win

As a red-blooded American, let may that your country hasn't been relevant since 1918.

As it pertains to soccer, check out that nice gold star above the three lions on the England shirt. Then try and find that star on the us shirt. Talk to me when you find it.

Based on the teams that qualified, each group should have one team in the Top 8, another in the Top 16, a third in the Top 32 and one outside the Top 32 (we'll call these the 1, 2, 3 and 4 seeds.) For the most part, each group follows this formula. (exceptions noted) Based on average rankings of each team, groups from hardest to easiest are:
1) H SPA/CHI (18.5) Properly seeded
2) E NED/CAM (20.75) "
3) C ENG/USA (21) "
3) D GER/SER (21) No #2 seed, two #3 seeds
5) B ARG/GRE (23.5) Properly seeded
6) G BRA/POR (26.75) Two #1 seeds, no #3 seed (looks like a "Group of Death," but the 2 #1s will probably advance. CDI gets screwed)
7) A FRA/MEX (31.75) Properly seeded
8) F ITA/PAR (36.25) No #2 seed, two #4 seeds (Cakewalk for Italy; someone will advance who shouldn't--Whoever wins Group E gets a pass to the quarters)

Having some groups with a really crappy 4 seed skews this somewhat, but having a guaranteed win in your group is huge.

P.S. frick Angleterre. Allez les Bleues!!!! Deutschland uber alles!

You don't come on this board and expect to get away with talking trash to the Ameritards. There was one Costa Rica fan, and we haven't seen him since Johnny Bornstein made his country cry.

Seriously though, I think England should easily qualify from this group. Obviously the big game for the US will be trying to get a draw from England and beating Algeria. Algeria are no cupcakes. They gave Egypt all they wanted, and Egypt are useful. I'd guess that Algeria will have the upper hand because they are playing closer to home, but it will be close.

You were born an American but you live in England now, so you root for England? If that's the case, I hope a-hole cancer is in your future.

Algeria =/= South Africa. Not a damn thing in common. If anything, those people will cheer for England.

And the USA crushed Egypt last summer, so bring on Algeria.
