Going to destin. Any issues on the way from the hurricane?

Anything I should be aware of on the journey to destin? I heard some places are still impassable not sure where exactly.
Best fishing app
Posted by saz_1 on 7/30/20 at 8:13 pm
Any recommendations for a fishing app for the iPhone. Something that tracks my trip and maybe helps with scouting. I’m fishing out of shell beach.
Did you also install a trans cooler on the MDX? I’m thinking of doing the same thing and the dealer is charging $1500. I’ll save at least half doing it myself.

Cool. Thanks everyone. Basically hope that the dealer has their shite together and let them handle it.
Buying a car from a Texas dealership

If I buy a car from a texas dealership, how do taxes and plates get handled? Will the dealership be able to pay LA taxes or do I have to register the car and pay taxes again when I bring it back? What about LA plates?

Thanks for the heads up. I didn’t know about that fb group. Is that the best place to look for a boat?
Which ones should I stay away from. So far people have recommended frontier and Kenner.

That’s a good point. Unfortunately the towing capacity of my suv is only 3500. Will that be enough for the boat and trailer? Or am I pushing it?
Recommendations on bay boat
Posted by saz_1 on 6/20/20 at 9:33 am
Looking at getting a 21’ glass bay boat. Want to spend around 30k all in. Something reliable and a good beginner/starter boat. What should I look out for?
Thanks for everyone’s input.
Follow up question: I’ve been guessing that 30k is what I’d spend on a boat, but I really have no idea. I know with a car, I’d be aiming for something like a 2-4 year old Camry for about 20k. Good value, reliable, not much more than regular maintenance, but no real frills. What would the bay boat equivalent of that be?

Those are fair points. I've been chartering in shell beach for almost 20 years. I figured it was time for me to graduate, but I think I'm being talked out of it.
Owning a boat vs charter
Posted by saz_1 on 6/2/20 at 1:50 pm
I've always been a charter guy. But with my kids starting to grow up (13,11,6), I'm feeling buying a boat more and more. I'm probably the type to go fishing about once a month, so I know a charter is still probably the way to go, but I'd love to just have the flexibility to take the wife and 3 kids whenever I want and however long I want. How far off am I on my estimates here on boat ownership costs. I'd probably store or rent a slip in hopedale/shell beach.
Buy Boat+gear: ~20-50k
Rent slip: $300/month
Annual maintenance: ~$2k/yr+
Gas+bait for a day: $150
In fact, just writing this out makes me think that owning a boat is really not worth it unless you fish every week.

I think my HOA is a pain in the arse about making sure it stays wood. I’d love an energy efficient window.

Any recommendation for a window company that can replace wood casement windows?

Driving to Nashville from BR. Which is the better route to take? Google maps says the distance and the time are the same.
TIA

I did showerguard. Quite honestly, the glass still had residue. If I were to do it again I would say skip it. If you do it, I think Showerguard has some rebate that will save you some money. Also, I negotiated a lower price with the installer. It's not a scam, but its not worth it IMO.

Anyone know how the timing of backflow would occur. I live next to Bayou Fontaine, but it is about 3 feet below my house level at the moment. If it is going to occur overnight, I'd rather take the kids and go somewhere safer.
