Was Al Michaels Forced Out From SNF?

The dude is 80+ years old. If he willingly left SNF for TNF, due to the money, then it makes no sense to me. Even if he lives too 100, he has more money than he could ever spend.

Of course. Tirico had already been at NBC for years waiting for Michaels to retire but he wouldn't let go. Tirico probably threatened to walk. Michaels is such a sour puss on TNF.

NBC pushing the younger Mike Tirico

NBC wanted the whiter option and chose Tirico.

Michaels was halfway out the door at NBC. He had been begun scaling back his SNF travel schedule. Tirico was already calling a handful of games each season.
I think Al might have hung on long enough for the Paris Olympics this summer to be his swan song. Then Amazon stepped up and threw a ton of money at him when they were launching their Thursday game.

Not exactly on point but read Al Michaels' book. Solid read!

Plus they get the diversity points of having an obvious Italian as their lead guy.

Fun fact, don't tell your kids.
Al Michael claims he has never knowingly ever eaten a vegetable.

All I know is that when NBC wanted him for SNF but had to get Al out of his ESPN contract first, Universal had to give back Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, which was a character Walt Disney had created before Mickey Mouse but lost it in some shady business dealings.
Al was traded for a cartoon character, saying “I’m gonna be a trivia answer someday.”

Second. He also has some great podcast appearances with Bill Simmons. Great stories.

Stop with the racial b.s. Tirico had been a rising commodity inside of the broadcasting world for years. He's a quality play by play guy.

NBC wanted Tirico to do more games, but the NFL had to agree and they said no

"Tirico a rising commodity" : In the ESPN Book, covering the origins of ESPN & chapters on all the many individuals involved over the years, Tirico was accused of repeated, multiple counts of sexual harassment. And not just verbal abuse. Short version, he denied the claims & it all went away. But the allegations were quite detailed by multiple women.
