If people in the military can figure it out, I have no sympathy for athletes making 6+ figures. frick 'em.

If modern slavery makes me millions of dollars so that I can afford whatever I want, please make me a modern slave. What a ridiculous statement.

He doesn't have jack shite. If he doesn't like it he an walk away and no white man will own him. He might have to pay back a shite ton of money he signed for in a contract, but that's on him. No one is making him play ball for money, he's free to leave for Wakanda on the next flight if he chooses.

It appears KD is about to be heading back to GSW. Wow

That’s sports. I understand being traded could suck, but he can choose to retire any moment. Somewhat offensive comparison.
Even at a regular job you could always face being fired unless you are the boss.

I thought it was governors now, not owners. That solved racism.

I'm ready for my NBA shackles and chains. The Lord wouldn't give me anything I couldn't handle.

No, he does not have a point. And honestly, it’s a slap in the fricking face to everyone who actually was a slave.

Why would he give back money? NBA doesn’t really do signing bonuses since all contracts are guaranteed, so if he stopped playing, the payments would stop but he’d keep what he already had

Cool.

Wish I could have some modern day slavery. Yes pay me 13 million a year. If you want to trade me, trade me as long as I'm raking that pay day in. Not to mention all the other non-salary perks of being an NBA player.

Poor guy, only gets paid in the millions for playing a sport and entertaining.

Seems like Dennis Shroder has no idea how the world works. My employer could fire me tomorrow if they wanted. What’s the difference?
Posted on 2/5/25 at 7:33 am to TigerReb7
Well I guess Dennis is going to leave the League since it's like modern slavery.... right?

He is just bitter.. turned down Lakers 4yr / 84mil offer in 21, then there was no market so he will make about 1/4 of that over the same time span,,.. but he has been traded 5 times in 7 years which I am sure can be frustrating
Posted on 2/5/25 at 9:20 am to TigerReb7
He's well within his civil liberties to not pursue a career in professional basketball. Mr. Schroder is more than welcome to instead pursue a career in business, engineering, teaching, hospitality, medical, sales....the opportunities are limitless.

He's also free to pursue another career. He doesn't HAVE to stay with the Warriors, and he doesn't HAVE to agree to be traded.

Maybe he should have had his agent prioritize a no-trade clause over some of the extra money he got.
i think you meant a no "slave" clause

He never had that option, got traded too many times, so never was with same team for 4 years...(maybe they should have a rule that after you are traded 3- 4 times you are eligible for not trade clause contracts

To get a no-trade clause, you must have already been in the league for eight years and on the team you're signing with for at least four years.
