quote:Well I have seen many NASCAR races for years now and I'd say it happens maybe 5-10 times a season( in both sprint and nationwide) you see a guy walk on the track poining his finger and being all pissy
Another forum is full of people saying it's taboo amongst racers to get out the car. So which is it?
Some more exaggerated than others

I don't know why we are having a discussion anymore
Stewart gets off easy as pie
The sad part is the society we live in. The man just killed someone and ESPN is acting like he's a victim. Saying how it's such a tragedy and they can't imagine what TS is going through.
The frick? How about the dudes family that died
Unreal

Dirt track. Not nearly as lighted as NASCAR or Nationwide. And he's moving down the track after the car getting very close. The closest thing we saw was Ward Burton back in 2002 when he threw his helmet against a window while still holding it. He was at the bottom of the track and not moving. Trying to keep his body out of the way.

After reading the thread and some articles I was thinking that Tony may be in some trouble.
But the slowed down video makes me think it was just a horrible situation involving some pissed off guys and bad decisions.
The go pro video will be key.

quote:Reminds me of a joke I heard one time. Dude was the opening act for Brian Regan. He was talking about commentators saying "No one feels worse than that guy" after a pitcher smokes a batter in the head. "What about that guy?" (pointing to the guy writhing in pain on the ground)

well it's not even fair to really discuss because any criticism of a dead man will be seen in bad taste
but, he should have not gotten out of the car at that time and should never have gotten into the middle of the track

Your arguement is dumb. The kid last night didn't jump in front of Stewarts car, just like none of the others do

Agreed. It always blows my mind how a couple of bad decisions can result in death.

I've seen this situation play out many times before on the race track. Driver A is involved in a wreck with Driver B. Driver A's car is done and he gets out of the car and is completely irate because he believes Driver B was at fault for the accident. Instead of heading to the infield in a track vehicle Driver A hangs around until Driver B comes around again under caution to show his displeasure (middle fingers, arms in the air, helmet throwing, etc...).
Usually Driver B will just take the show and drive on by, I've never once seen any sort of aggressive action taken by a driver in a car toward a racer on foot. Apparently this time was different. I doubt it was intentional, he probably just wanted to scare him and show him who is boss, but what happened happened and it's a shame...

yes the kid should have never been on the track like that but tony should have seen him way before and should have been able to steer his car out of the way wayy before he got to him. /endthread

But that's just us going on this one video. There could be more evidence that implicates Tony even more. But going on this video alone, I don't see how he can be blamed for this and he definitely can't be convicted of anything.

Better slow mo gif
You can clearly see Ward has to move a little out of the way of the 45 car then when out of frame he steps back down and gets closer to Tony's car.

by high rate do you mean around 30 mph? For one these cars dont go THAT fast since it's a dirt track and it was under caution when he got hit.
Does under caution mean that pedestrians are free to walk the track without fear of being injured? They have no responsibility to mitigate the risk of death?
How fast do you think cars have to go to kill you? A regular car can potentially kill you going 20 mph although unlikely. At 30 mph it's 50/50 basically.

And still no video evidence of Tony swerving into him as many claimed to see.

Tony was clearly about a half car higher then the 45 car.

I'm not asking the media to discuss the man's side and how his family is feeling, it was just a point
If anyone is a victim, it's the fricking guy who died, not Tony Stewart. Plenty of people don't seem to understand that
Whether he meant to or not, the truth is he killed someone. Someone is dead.
And all ESPN cAres about it TS's feelings?
Sickening
