I don't think stewart should be charged. I think both of them made bad choices. Unfortunately it lead to the death of one of them.

Sure it sucks that the guy got killed doing the same thing drivers do all the time. But it had to happen at some point.

Am I the only one that thinks he wasn't really that far up the track? He looked to go about the same path as the guy right in front of him. It's the guys fault for getting out of his car when cars are running at high speeds on a dirt track in the first place.

if tony could do it over again, I would have to think he would have slowed down like the rest of the drivers and not gunned the gas as ward was approaching. what's crazy is that stewart KEPT driving even after he hit someone...

There was one other car that passed that far up. All of the others were further down the track. Stewart went highest of all

tony was a few feet higher than the blue car, but that track is pretty thin to begin with. Tony should have easily seen the kid waiting for him hundreads of yards away and should have been at the bottom of the track and not in the middle.

Don't see how anyone is blaming Stewart at all. The guy got out his freaking car in the middle of a race.

No. I posted this pic a few pages back. This car was like a foot from Ward's car, and this well after his wreck and well before he was hit by Stewart

There were other cars that certainly went higher than Stewart did

they were, but one was making the judgment while standing in the middle of a race track, facing a car while the other person was in a car built to withstand impacts with other cars (so imagine the protection against 180 lbs of flesh and bone)

once again it was under caution, there was no racing at that time and cars were going at very minimal speeds.

Nope

Stewart initiated it when he forced the crash

The young man got out as a result.

Stewart finished it by killing him
Crashes happen in every race. It's rare that someone is [whatever adjective] enough to walk onto a race track and get hit by a car.

So, as far as I'm concerned, the guy getting out of his car is what started this.

I slowed it down some and blew the gif up. I may try to make a higher quality one later but it's a shitty low frame video so there isn't a lot to work worth for slow mo.

Obviously none of us are ever going to know what went on in Tony's head, but I would never get out of my sprint car on a dirt track. Sprint cars at lower speeds are the equivalent of driving a manual sports car at low speeds in 4th gear. Go watch the Cajun Sprints at Baton Rouge speedway and you'll see them rev up constantly so the engine doesn't cut out. They do not have active starters, so they actually have to be pushed to a minimum speed before they can even start.

You mean the kid that shouldn't have been on a racetrack with vehicles approaching him at high rates of speed? Shite we learn in preschool, that kid?

It's amazing how some refuse to believe that this kid put himself in harm's way. Harm didn't seek him out.
