I think we can all agree she may have fricked up on the vetting but that's not why a handful of posters care about this story

It's kind of amusing that aggrieved black women and white trash dudes are apparently have the biggest victimhood complexes when it comes to interracial relationships.

The thing is you can be cautious in dating and still not be able to prevent what happened in this scenario. Dude was batshit enough to latch onto her that quickly and kill her over the rejection in a very short time period.

At some point it’s a hell of a lot less about her vetting and instead about his batshit crazy.

Just ask him, pretty common sense when meeting strangers. Ask for proof of identity. Basic.
This is a great way to get arse or a SO.

Thanks.

When I’m at the bar late night I’m definitely concerned about which attractive females are trying to case me and rob me. That’s why I always ask for an updated and accurate criminal history before proceeding any further with the buying of drinks or ordering of Ubers back to my place

Someone could do all the same things you discussed in a group out in public.

And you have far less control over that.

You can control who comes into your home, who you engage in 1 on 1 situations with in the context of a romantic relationship.

And what you’re proposing for a romantic relationship is over the top absurd

Not really if it's a complete stranger. I would guess most people meet their SO through mutual friends or other somewhat close acquaintances which can back up the character/behavior of the person you engage in a relationship with.

A 100% stranger in which you or anyone you know have zero information about is a completely different animal.

You basically want the interested parties to conduct full background checks on each other before they go on a date.

Between 100% strangers asking obvious questions like age, name, job, family, or origin isnt exactly a "full background check", but if you were curious plenty of women already pay for online services which can conduct criminal background checks on potential partners

Y'all are all over the map on this.

I'm sorry if this makes me automatically a despicable person but yes a female should do a little research before meeting a total stranger. Am I judging them and thinking they are bad people and get what they deserve if they don't? No, but do I find it naive and a little ignorant? Yes. Was I naive and a little ignorant when I was young? Yes. Does the fact that I did it make a difference in my opinion of whether it's smart or not? No.

And the real kicker-- do we even have any idea how the gal in the op and the dude who killed her met? If not, why are we discussing meeting someone online and in a bar?

Earlier this month, McCluskey filed a report with university police related to alleged harassment from Rowland. Detectives had been in touch with McCluskey regarding the allegation, according to Brophy, who would not provide further details related to that investigation.

^Remember this when people say "I don't understand why so and so wouldn't go to the police if they're being harassed." It happens far too often.

We’ve hit the TD Trifecta in this thread now.

Little bit of homophobia, little bit of sexism, and a decent bit of racism.

True.

ETA - I'm pretty sure liking/discussing basketball makes us liberals according to the PT.

Really? I can think of about 20 ways off the top of my head aside from those two.

We have no idea how they met- do we? Real question there.
