The bowl system is laden with corruption... that corruption soils the game but also feeds the NCAA.
I would do 20 teams. P-5 conferences get 2 teams in each. G-5 schools get 1 team in each. 5 wild cards.
The 10 teams from the P-5 auto bids, and the top 2 ranked teams from the G-5 auto bids, get a first round bye.
1st and 2nd round games are held on campus.
Quarterfinal and semifinal games are held in the stadiums that currnetly do the New Year's Six.
Champ game is bid out (like now).

I think it'd be really fun,
Not really. Just more blowouts. We've had first round blowout wins every year of the 4 team playoff. An 8 or 16 team playoff would only ensure 1st and second round blowouts and boring games in the name of fairness.

P5 champs
3 more from nd and the best g5 champ and the best of the rest of p5.
Close enough.
No byes.
No automatic g5. If theres a top 15 undefeated g5 not in top 8 they get the rotation spot in sugar fiesta orange.
3 games tops.

My idea has always been top six conference champions. That gives the big 5 a guaranteed spot and the other conferences a shot at 1 final spot. I think it would actually lead to abother big conference coming to be.
Then seed the six according to a computer formula like BCS. The top two teams get a first round bye and a second round home game. The third and fourth team get a first round home game. The championship is neutral site.
Seeding would end up being huge making the regular season mean something. Every team basically has access because of the conference champion requirement. You don’t end up with a runner up in a conference getting a do over relative to a conference opponent that won the conference.

Which all collectively lose money. Football props them all up.
It is indeed too many games, without changing the regular season. What you are suggesting would actually have the opposite effect. The rich will get richer; the bigger programs that already have more resources will need to get even more depth, and will.
Further, is there ever really much doubt that the best team wins the championship in the current system? I mean yeah, give enough teams chances and there could be shakeups, but just because other sports have those systems doesn't make it better.
Basketball is a tournament sport. Baseball is a series sport. They are different than football.

What do you think I am suggesting? I just put a bracket together in compliance with NCAA bylaws

UCF, FAU, Toledo, Boise State, and Arkansas State have no business playing the other teams

Know how I know you don't watch FCS football?

Oh look, more proof.

People who think they're the only ones who watch FCS football tend to believe the opposite.
Did this make sense in your head?
Anyone who thinks the FCS is superior to FBS in terms of talent...they are confused. My comment was more in regard to people completely brushing off the FCS. Typically idiot fans who call the schools "D2".
Big matchups do occur during the regular season in the FCS, but someone who doesn't watch wouldn't know.
