If I’m not mistaken, didn’t Pittsburgh and New Jersey actually play in Canton?

Yes but only because Birmingham was hosting the World Games and the stadiums were unavailable.

I've really enjoyed the USFL, but I have not been able to warm up to the XFL. I hope this goes more in the USFL direction.

Just kill the leagues off. They will never amount to anything. No minor league pro football league ever lasts.

Bob Stoops, the one (and now only) Championship Coach in the XFL. Pretty cool distinction.

There has never been a successful independent minor league professional sports league in the U.S. They are all complete failures unless heavily subsidized by their parent league. No one gives a shite about minor league sports. This is why the professionalization of college sports is stupid. People like college sports to support their school. Take that away and it's just another shitty minor league.

the IHL was pretty legit in the 90s

Need to work the teams to the following non-NFL cities to build up the audience:

USFL
Birmingham - stay
Memphis - stay
Michigan - Grand Rapids/East Langsing/Kalamazoo
New Orleans - Mobile
Houston - Austin
Pittsburgh - Erie
Philadelphia - Allentown
New Jersey - Atlantic City

XFL
DC - Richmond
Seattle - Tacoma or Portland
St. Louis - stay
Las Vegas - stay (1 of maybe 1 or 2 that could stay in an NFL city & be successful but also good for the league)
Arlington - Frisco
Orlando - stay
Houston - The Woodlands or Corpus Christi
San Antonio - stay

You might as well move the New Orleans team to Metairie if you’d move Arlington to Frisco and Houston to the Woodlands

I enjoy these threads just to watch how vitriolic y'alls hate for spring football is. All it does is exist. And for reasons unknown, so many people here are like "FUUUUUUUUCK THIS FOR EVEN BRING AROUND!"

I like it. I don't really follow it much or sit and watch any of the games for more than a half hour or so, but if it's around and they can make a go of it, more power to them.

Biggest issue with alternative football leagues is that even the NFL can't get decent QBs for half is their teams.
