There must be no talent on California to pick from.

I find it ironic that it's apparently two Louisiana transplants in So Cal wanting to talk shite to the USC people where they now live.

You know very well if you live here that there are a boat load of USC people who would do anything to get back to the better times. But everyone who has half a brain knows its not happening anytime soon. And of course the game atmosphere sucks right now, the current administration took the fun out of it and it's just down right depressing now.

But hey, at least parents still want to spend over $500k to send their kids there.

USC has gift wrapped two elite QBs to Bama that we had no business signing if they were halfway competent.

No way Tua or Bryce Young leave the west coast if that program was even semi functional.

Why doesn't the state of Georgia have the LSU logo in that one graphic? Re: Arik Gilbert

They were always a football school, the Alabama of the West, caring only about one thing...then they decided they wanted to be like Stanford and not Alabama and now there's 3 more women's sports than men's sports.

I'd imagine all schools with football program are like this because of Title IX. Football has 85 scholarships in FBS, and your athletic department has to have as many female sport scholarships and male sport scholarships.

Hence, more female athletic teams to reach that balance.

It will take years for a new coach to fix what Helton is doing to that program

NO. A competent coach who knows how to manage recruiting can turn that place around fast. Pete Carroll did it very fast back when he took over. The talent in just the LA area alone is ridiculous. Throw in the San Diego area and the bang for the buck makes it even more ludicrous.

Serious question and looking for a serious answer. What is the administration doing that is hamstringing the football program?

It’s one thing to get no support from the administration at places like Tulane or Vanderbilt where nobody cares, but USC was one of the all-time great programs in college football. I don’t see how they could frick it up as much as they did.

The graphic is all screwed up. They've got Arizona State with the top player in Cali when, depending on the service, that's Either Bryce Young (Bama) or DJ Uiagaleiei (Clemson)

Obviously, keeping Clay Helton

Also should have never given Lynn Swann the AD job, he set them back for years

How is Helton so bad at recruiting?

It defies logic. How hard is it to sell playing football there??

“Hey kid, want to go to a legendary football school with a history of sending players to the NFL where you’ll be a minor celebrity and enjoy amazing weather year-round, beautiful women, and beaches? Oh, and our conference generally sucks arse, so getting to the playoffs should be a breeze.”

And the interim coach they rejected 5 years ago just won the national championship for his beloved state university. Seems like someone over there made a poor choice.

I think because of all the issues they had in the last 15 years (OJ Mayo, Reggie Bush, the med school dean smoking meth with escorts, the staff doctor who sexually assaulted hundreds of foreign students, the admissions scandal with the kids of millionaires pretending to be non revenue sports athletes while the coaches looked the other way), they are really doing things by the book right now.

So Helton is super clean and keeping his job for that reason, not to mention the absurd buyout.
