They really didn't. They might have shown up for Fsu or some top five opponent they have scheduled that year but on average their attendance numbers have been bad.

USC now has UCLA fans, ergo...a UCLA student body, tons of students who don't know what the frick American football is and don't care about sports. They're there to earn a degree from a prestigious University in America.
And then you have the Alumni who checked out with Haden and don't give a crap anymore...because the Presidents won't let them give a crap anymore and have any say.
USC took the Bush sanctions hard. Not really on the field...but as a stain on a prestigious University as Sample was building.
So they almost said frick football success, it's a no-win situation, if you win, you cheated and you can't win without trying to cheat.
USC still just wants Andy Griffen as their head coach regardless if he sucks.
The idea that the current administration would ever approve of Meyer to USC is absurd.
USC might never be great again because they refuse to get even a little bit dirty now and you frankly have to be a little bit dirty in CFB to win...lets not be Pollyanna's here.
