With what has been released, I don't think he was being fired anyway.

This statement is simply to put something positive out over the weekend.

What's going to determine his fate has been the same thing its always been, what else is found on this matter. He's got a lot of dogs looking for a bone in Columbus this weekend.

I’ve always been a big proponent of the NCAA. It’s very frustrating to see that things happen and things happen and things happen — some of a very serious nature — and it just disappears because they don’t have subpoena power. You hear the term ‘toothless.’ It’s certainly not because of effort, because we have very good people there.

I always believed if you willfully and intentionally broke the rule or you lie to the NCAA, you can never coach again. To this day, I still believe that. I’m not talking about mistakes made when you have a rulebook like this (thick). But if you intentionally pay a guy money or willfully have a second cell phone to make illegal phone calls, you’re done. You can never coach again.

-Urban Meyer

what a moral compass for us all to admire.

Did he intentionally or willfully break an NCAA rule or lie to the NCAA?

I haven't seen any evidence yet that this is the case.

So he's driving a huge truck right over Gene Smith and the Powell Police.

This might get uglier

He probably didn't know about the police involvement from 2015.

We both know that's a huge stretch, but possible.

This statement basically says, "I'm not a liar but crap, I lied. But I didn't do anything wrong and somebody else sucks and that's why my WR coach beat his wife again."

At least that's what I read through my "I don't like Urban Meyer glasses."

It's saying he wasn't clear and was abrasive to the reporter, which he was. He took it personally and messed up.

No doubt about that.

I have a feeling he didn't "technically" lie but held back information that would have shed more light on the situation.

So the story is basically he told the athletic department

But lied at media days.

Seems perfectly fine to me. He’ll be fine if that’s the truth.
