Because, much like Zeke, they were an a-hole.

This is where the SEC needs Sankey to step up.

Source: Oregon's and Washington's annual cut of the Big Ten's revenue distribution is expected to start at $30M and grow by $1M each year through the length of the current deal. They will receive full shares upon the next TV deal, in 2030-31. They can borrow off future earnings.

They didn't have much of a choice so I get it but its almost a guarantee the media and cfb climate is totally different in 8 years than it is now

ETA and I have a hard time seeing how any deal 8 years from now will be better than the current one. TV media is a sinking ship

Yep.

ACC is gonna die unless ESPN renegotiates, which they wont

Both TV and CFB are changing so much. ESPN will probably cease to exist or get bought out within the next couple years. All of this seems pretty pointless until the media landscape becomes clearer and answers around streaming and legacy media playout.

ESPN has their own problems right now. There's a lot of uncertainty regarding the future of that network after Bob Iger's comments from a week or two ago.

Don't get me wrong the B1G can brag about its great TV deal... until it ceases to exist bc Fox doesn't get the ratings it anticipated and totally kills it. It is all a house of cards right now built around an industry that is a giant bubble

ETA it could totally work out and maybe CFB saves the industry. But everything I see tells me the model is broken and these giant deals are not going to bring returns
