what is the actual ceiling for ULM football? They really stretched their budget to keep Vincent.

Not even sure how to answer that question knowing the school is millions in the red and the president stepped down. How does a school even think about athletics when they are probably about to cut teachers and staff to the bone? On top of that, they seem to be in a wrestling match with the state on the former Century/Lumen property that was donated to the school on property I am not even sure they can even pay taxes on or maintain. I have no clue how this school just seems to perpetuate being a never-ending dumpster fire.

That is highly doubtful.

There are outstanding high school baseball programs in this area.

You think high school seniors want to stay in Monroe?

said something for years as someone who graduated from ULM & supports the teams. This is for all sports. We can change the uniforms, helmets, coaches, players, waterboys, mascot & even name of the university.

NLU/ULM missed the boat in the 90’s not hiring a local coach to recruit nothing but NE Louisiana kids the first couple years… fan interest would have been automatic…UPM did absolutely no outreach in the Monroe through the 90’s,..

I’m far from an expert in college sports, but people on here claim that they would be in even worse financial position if they drop down to FCS for football.

I’m guessing you’re talking about football. Because local legends played at ULM in the 90’s in basketball and baseball.

Every single ULM program is a joke. I don’t think the admin even knows they have a basketball team.

The fact that Richard had to retire instead of being fired years ago proves your point.

I love that he made us somewhat relevant for two years while I was there but that by no means bought the amount of time he got.

Also do you have any insight on what happened with berry since you were there more recently than me? My understanding was everything was good then boom all this shite comes out.

who’s your source? We make too much money from being the sec’s/big xii’s noncon punching dummy to go down. I agree it’d be better from a competition standpoint (and even said so when I competed there) but financials matter and I’d rather have programs that get beat down than seeing programs cut.

Im not naming names, but supposedly, there will be staff furloughs coming, and the athletic department will be affected.
