Every time someone comes in and says something longwinded about the name shite like this, it reminds me of scenes in Parks & Rec when dumb citizens come in and speak about random shite during town hall meetings.

There’s that Cajun pride in the program!

All joking aside, wtf. You can’t give up that easily.

I mean…I was upset Sunday morning. I’m sure I’ll watch and cheer.

But many Cajun fans are just tired of decades of the university, specifically Martin Hall leadership, squandering opportunity after opportunity to capitalize on momentum for multiple athletic programs. Every time there seems to be progress, the rug is pulled out. This has been going on since the 80s, and I saw it as an athlete competing in the late 90s-early 2000s timeframe.

At some point, even the most diehard fans are just going to say, “Screw it. I’ll spend my Saturdays fishing”.

Most of the ULM fans here don't even have ULM flair. If you care that much about ULM, be a ULM fan first and then an LSU/Bama fan second.

Pedro is the only fan that deserves a strong ULM team.

If you'd paid attention over the years, I have always been a fan. I have as much ULM stuff as LSU. Both my parents went to LSU and my great uncle coached there, so I feel I'm not just on the bandwagon with that stuff. My "flair" says Astros because I live in Houston and actually go to quite a few games.

I even attended the bowl game in Shreveport and sat in that freezing cold at the fairgrounds with a whole bunch of other 50 year old alums.

Apparently, ULM and ULL fans are exactly alike, as are the football programs.

eta: It was just very funny/ironic what the ULL fan posted. What he said is exactly what ULM fans have been feeling the last 25 years.

The real name for that school in Lafayette should be-
Southwestern Louisiana Junior College in Lafayette.
All respect to ULM-they hold their true name (University of Louisiana at Monroe) with honor. My compliments to them.
On another note- there is NO "University of Louisiana" no matter how much ULALA or SWLJCL or ULL or USL thinks so. Everyone knows there is only ONE flagship university in Louisiana and that of course is Louisiana State University. End of story.

Junior college? We are the second largest school in the state.

When LSU fans wonder why a lot of our fans don't like you, look no further than this post. It's this kind of ignorant "know your place" posts which proves why this state can sometimes be so backwards.

You are talking about LSU fans in Acadiana that constantly hear about ULL on the radio, their family and friends (with good reason with ULL being the area school)

The non-Acadiana LSU fans don’t give a shite about ULL

I am forever amazed at the number of my friends that are ULL Alumni that spend big money to tailgate and go to LSU Football games

The ULL Admin has been doing a great job counter-programming against LSU football where people could somewhat attend games for both teams. But that is a product of winning, with the way this season is going, it looks like a lot of momentum the Cajuns had under Napier is going away

LSU has a national brand that sells itself and has been for decades. It's also been really the only brand that has been sold in the state as well.

We just really started about ten years ago, yet one of our biggest flaws is that we don't really advertise our brand locally as much as we should. For example, if you drive around the vicinity of Cajun Field, you would never know that we are defending Sun Belt Champions with a Top 25 ranking in the last 2 seasons. There's a lot of low hanging fruit that hasn't been tapped when it comes to our athletic brand, so that untapped market goes to LSU by default.

this is very true, for as much good as there is with the Cajun Athletic Dept there is twice as much stupid and incompetence. Some of the Lafayette Old Guard like it that way, so very little changes

My dad went to LSU. I grew up LSU everything. The truth is, LSU and even the Astros aren't hurting for fans. If you really care about ULM/NLU as much as you claim to do, be a ULM fan first. Every university in Louisiana besides LSU needs their alumni to support their school. LSU has enough supporters writing checks to their athletic programs.

And yes, I have paid attention over the years. You're in every thread complaining about what ULLLLL calls themselves. How about show some pride for the school it seems you got your degree from?

I went to that one. Think I bailed in the 2nd quarter I was miserably underdressed for the wind cutting right through my jacket.
