The only thing I’ve ever seen would be the stuff about Trey Dez - which LHSAA cleared him for football but not basketball

Show me where that happened to ANY OTHER PLAYER. Especially eligible for the first sport and not the later sport.

I can’t. I don’t see how it’s possible. The reasoning had to do with AAU basketball I believe.

Hearing will be Wednesday. It’s cut and dry. They played 2 kids in varsity games that could only play in JV games. Uhigh is screwed and won’t be eligible to play in playoffs.

Should probably change the title. It isn't recruiting violations. It's eligibility issues.

Isn’t that basically the same thing?

Ineligible because of recruiting

No. In this case, there are no allegations that either of these kids were recruited to UHigh. They transferred and UHigh allegedly misclassified them in the administrative system.

Kids transfer all the time in the LHSAA for various reasons.

Can someone please mansplain this to me? U-High has a thorough application process and is competitive (to very competitive) for admission. It's not like admins would just have no idea these kids are good at football. A kid doesn't just "transfer" there.

ETA...I have several good friends whose sons are on the team. They love their football community, and I seriously don't want to ask them. Not yet anyway.

23,24,25, & 26 will all lose this week. I haven’t done the math, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they jump to 24.

They're going to get in at 24. Shaw will have to play U High in round one and they will stand a pretty good chance of losing.

That would be a quarterfinal if Shaw is 1 and UHigh is 24

As a Shaw fan, if that is the way it falls out I’d stand by the idea we would have had to overcome them anyway and maybe getting them at home gives a smidge more grace for error than facing them in the dome would have. Does suck to catch them in the essential first round for Shaw but maybe with 2 weeks to definitively prepare for them might help too. Either way beating them was probably a requirement for State maybe conquering the beast early is the luck of the draw that plays out in a positive.

It would be the round of 16. Shaw’s first game.
