If he can actually do that, incredibly awesome for him. I hope he can and I hope he hired a real financial professional and not a friend.

That’s what Marshawn Lynch did as well.

Had not heard about Marshawn, but I know Nate Burleson never spent a paycheck during his career.

He's doing great now, so I guess it worked out for him.

A lot of athletes have started doing this. They're, many times, making as much or more with their endorsement deals and don't need the money from their game checks. It's smart and a wonder why it's taken this long for so many players to go that route. Hopefully, they're finally taking notice of all the literature talking about players going broke right after they're done playing.

And the poster who talked about stupid business investments for friends/family is 100% right. That is probably one of, if not the biggest way players lose all their money.

His dad would have rather had $10k of hookers and blow than a stupid watch.

til his accountant comes to him and says: ok.......if you put this into a savings account, the government will take 30%. so.......you have a choice.......give the government 30% or buy something for 10 million and write it off.

ESPN’s 30/30 called Broke was a must watch on this topic. They all have the people asking for handouts and it’s hard for them to say no.

And he tells people this like it's fact and not his theory when the topic of Gronk's money comes up.

People say this as if these "real" professionals aren't thieves themselves.

Half the time these players end up broke os because a financial advisor robbed them blind.

Think it was Bill Parcells who used to tell all his rookies to live off the interest from their rookie contract and put the rest away. That was back when advertisement money was nothing compared to today, too.

Back then rookies QB were getting $60 million (Jamrcus) to $85 million (Bradford) rookie deals.

Matt Stafford who is 11 games under .500, never won a playoff game. Will have earned more than a quarter of billion before his 35th birthday.
