And that’s why the NBA fricking sucks. There’s no variety anymore. Everyone’s playing the same offense taking the same damn shots. It’s either dunk or 3 and it’s bland as hell.

And don’t give me that bullshite “but muh analytics”. It’s boring as shite to watch. It’d be like watching a football team either run HB dives or 4 verticals and that’s it.

Be an artist that goes 35-47 every year, and watch other people build legacies, become the faces of the league, and enjoy much greater success.

Yeah, that's the ticket!

Garbage shot choice is fine, as long as everyone else is taking garbage shots. After that, its just self-punishment.

"MLB fricking sucks it's either home run or strikeout!!"

Or could just stop being a whiny old man and learn to enjoy an evolving game.

Most of the elite players still have a mid range game & it’s very important in the playoffs

Well the first is true and just because something is "evolving" doesn't mean it is changing for the better.

Let's see, either shoot a 3 or dunk because you get a long rebound when the other team misses a 3.

Man, I don't think I can stand all that "evolution"

Midrange might not be the best shot but it is the most difficult to score and also the most fun to watch when players create shots there

Clearly you never watched AI shoot 7-22 while Korver was forced to watch.

That being said, it’s the role players who don’t midrange shots.

The Elite scorers still have the green light to take open midrange shots.

You really are pathetic. How the hell did you take my post to be about Duke vs UNC? First, I don’t live my life cheering against UNC players in the NBA, NFL, MLB, or US women’s soccer team. I don’t arbitrarily rank guys over Vince Carter bc I don’t want to claim the best dunker of all time is a UNC grad, etc.

Second, at no point in your link did MJ say anything about “artistry” or that three point shooting was too easy for him.

With analytics, I don’t know how to really fix it. If we created a 4 point line or just moved the three point line back a foot or two, players would be instructed to practice at those lengths as much as possible and within 2-3 years, the problem would re-emerge either as everyone got better or players who could shoot from even farther distances were valued much more than before (like today’s 3 and D guys).

The only solution would be to eliminate the three point line but that would lead to much uglier basketball in general.

You can do a few things.

1) get rid of corner 3’s and make it 2’s. It is ridiculous that you can count a shorter shot from the side as much as a longer shot from the top.

2) move the 3 point line back.

3) make. 5 second violation akin to a 3 second violation for being above the arc.

#3 is a bit hard to enforce but the other two are completely logical.

3 would be the most effective at the actual goal but would be almost impossible to enforce and would lead to a ton of unintended consequences.

These days there is generally 1 guy who stays in the paint at all and the refs still miss it constantly. Imagine trying to do keep track of 3-4 guys at a time while trying to keep track of fouls and everything else.

They need to bring back hand checking and make zone defenses illegal. Make flops on offense a personal foul on the offense. With all the technology available today, there is no way floppers should be getting rewarded as much as they are.

I can tell you what happened.

Hakeem Olajuwon retired.

He was the guy that made all those baseline shots.
