I went to a Greensboro (NC) Grasshoppers minor league game a couple of years ago, and their on-field host was a goofy guy in a jester hat called Spaz.
I wasn’t furious or offended, but I did think it was an odd choice of nickname, especially when many seriously disabled people were in attendance. (Minor league teams must give tickets to disabled folks; several are often present.)
I read later that he started with that name over 20 years ago, and he has since retired. Doubt they would let Spaz fly if starting from scratch today. Tard, Crip, and Gimp are also poor choices.
