What a stupid decision

I can’t stand this analytic garbage sometimes. Why even go for 2 there? Glad it failed. Moron

I'm trying to even understand the analytics on this one.

Such an unnecessarily risky move

Odds of converting XP ~95%
Odds of converting 2-point ~48% (57% in 2026 so far)
Depends on your offense and personnel and whether you’ve got plays you like but the gist is when you’re down 14, going for 2 twice results in equal or more expected points than trying 2 XP
Whether or not it’s “more risky” is very team and context dependent though

That's the risk/reward

Can’t wait for the panthers to score again and miss the 2 point conversion, when they could easily be tying it with an XP
Posted on 10/29/26 at 10:09 pm to RemouladeSawce
The Packers are comprised with the last 2 drives
They quit at Halftime and about to get there arse kicked-
There’s so much wrong with last 2 drives not sure where to start

Green Bay refusing to run the ball when you should be running out the clock

But now they’re driving and need a 2 point to tie it. If they score a TD and miss the 2 then they will look like retards
Posted on 10/29/26 at 10:10 pm to FireGoodell
Well the way the Packers are playing the can kick a GW FG because they will run 3 plays and use up less than a minute
Posted on 10/29/26 at 10:10 pm to RemouladeSawce
I don’t understand not just taking the point there. I don’t care about the analytics down two TDs. It just seems fricking retarded there at that point. Take the point.

Lmao, what a garbage 3rd down call. Just throw the damn ball

Well, of course. But the odds of getting at least one of the two point conversions before it started, are pretty good.
He asked for the reasoning, and that's the reasoning.

Take the point
The league average XP is 94%
The Panthers kicker is 70% this season. Over 2 XP, at that rate his likelihood of hitting both is ~49%. And he’s on the road
You don’t have to “care about the analytics” but it’s not an inherently stupid move

If they planned on going for the win (by going for two eventually) then I can see just going for it when they did.
Posted on 10/29/26 at 10:15 pm to tigerpimpbot
You know how when some teams are overmatched and they are down 7 at the end of the game or overtime and then take their odds going for 2 instead of tying?
It's the same logic. If you make it the first time you "win", if not you get a second chance to "tie". (All assuming you can stop them and score again)

Panthers coach making looking Moore look like a genius.
Posted on 10/29/26 at 10:16 pm to castorinho
I would rather wait and go for the W
Especially being on the road. Once you start driving the defense and crowd start to get anxious at the possibility of the 2 for the win.
