Now, I’d say no way it’s rigged. Wemby going to SA is not in the NBA’s best interest.
They can’t rig it every year and make it too obvious.

Cavs landing #1 to draft the hometown kid Lebron

Lebron leaves for 4 seasons and the Cavs landed the #1 pick in 3 of those years. Got Kyrie out of that and then flipped Bennett and Wiggins to trade for Kevin Love

NOLA landing the #1 pick for Anthony Davis when the league owned the team and could use something to sweeten the deal for a buyer.

Then NOLA landing the #1 pick again when another generational talent was in the draft, right whenDavis had forced his way out and got traded to the Lakers.

Dallas landing #1 pick right after trading Luka to the Lakers for a trash return.

It can’t be rigged every year, but some of these examples were some longshot odds for the team who won the lottery at very convenient times for those teams. Hard to say that many times is just coincidencd

I don’t really understand these statements. I get if you don’t like his schtick or his show, but he seems to be a nice dude.

I'm surprised by how low Stern went and high how Rome went with the way they handled that interaction.

Rome got the reaction he was hoping for, at that point he can just sit back and enjoy the moment. The question is valid though

I don’t think you undsertand Sterns comment….

He didn’t go low. There was no accusations against Rome for domestic abuse. His point was to show Rome it kinda sucks to try and “disprove” simply gossip even if you don’t do anything

All you can say is “I don’t beat my wife” but people can still accuse you of it.

Wut? But the NBA lottery is obviously rigged. Statistically impossible some of the things that have occurred.

Jim Rome was throwing out the common thought process of the avg fan.

Stern was 100% a low blow. Domestic abuse is a complete POS thing to say

Sterns point proven

They literally have it independently audited plus they show the entire lottery from start to finish on YouTube now for the world to see

There s zero the nba can do to “disprove” the rigged rumors

But when people are accused of massive levels of fraud over an over it’s kosher

Damn stern was a POS.

Huge POS. (Rome is too though, but not in this situation)

Stern had no reason to use that analogy. It was a legitimate question and Rome even said that he asked it because people are talking about it (people talk about it being rigged every singe year). He then even followed that up with "I'm not saying that i do [believe that}" only that fans do. Stern didn't think it was a legitimate question - even though all NBA fans were discussing it. And Stern thought it was such a good line that he said it twice to try and make sure it was heard.

His apology was just as bad:

quote:

I understand what's happening," Stern said. "My only objection at the time was, your question phrases it in a certain way. But if you said to me directly, 'Is the lottery fixed?', you would be implying that you believed it was fixed. Because you don't need to make it part of the question. And so I sort of reacted, maybe overreacted. So I understand that. But a guy's allowed to have some fun.

Nope. His answer (question) was simply pointing out how loaded of a question that was. He wasn't accusing him of domestic violence

I don’t believe Rome ever had domestic abuse issues, not even a rumor if I’m correct. That’s what made it a low blow by Stern that was completely unnecessary.

Sterns point was no matter how you answer the question (yes or no) you look guilty. He was inferring that just by asking the question rome was fueling rumors no matter the answer. He wasn't accusing him of beating his wife.

You aren't wrong, however, the way he tried to get his point across was way out of line, and caused people to question whether or not Rome beat his wife.
