BUT for whatever reason YOU have to think Kobe is BETTER that's you.[even though I feel you NEVER saw MJ play.]

I never said Kobe was better. I think he is equivalent. Just pointing out the fact that Kobe has had a better career when you consider the rosters, longevity, and consistency in terms of wins and losses. Kobe never had shite seasons like Jordan, even when his roster got blown up.

I mean, hell, is it so much better that Jordan won 1 more NBA championship? If you take the over-all win/loss record, finals appearances, competition, and Kobe winning another championship (which is a very real possibility IMHO), can you seriously say Jordan is that much better?

Nevermind the fact that Kobe will likely have to win that championship without Phil Jackson. If you put it into that context, wtf is so great about Jordan... Bill Russel won 11 NBA championships. I mean, even Tim Duncan can win his fifth championship this year and the Spurs are currently overall number one seed. It's not like we are talking unprecedented stuff here. Lebron will probably win four or five championships as well.

I guess I just refuse to be spoon fed hype because half of ESPN employees also have contracts with Nike.

If you say so. Just realize, Kobe lost in the finals TWICE, and had another team in the western conference finals. The man is literally a couple of games here and there away from winning 8 NBA championships. I just don't buy that Jordan's resume is so much better, if at all.

There is no way you can totally overlook the fact that the Bulls were still a very good team without Jordan.

Look at the difference in the Cavs post Lebron and the Bulls when Jordan first "retired". I don't know if this makes Lebron better but I don't think Jordan gets that Cavs team to a Finals.

It's not even that... Pippen didn't just lose Jordan. He lost Horace Grant also, who was arguably a top five center in the league. Even with that, they still made the playoffs and had a chance to win it all.

Jordan won one playoff game without Pippen. Translate that any way you want.

If the Bulls had traded Pippen before the title runs then this thread wouldn't exist?

HoF Speech says it all... He talks to Jordan like an equal. Furthermore, if you good a reading verbal cues you'll notice he avoids saying Jordan's name. He calls him "MJ" and "23". Pretty obvious diss.

The idea that Jordan is "da greatest eva." Dude had zero winning seasons and one playoff win without Scottie Pippen. The year he retired, the Bulls only win two fewer regular season games and Pippen is the MVP of the all-star game, lol.

Let's put that in perspective, Kobe Bryant who many claim is merely a product of Shaq has 3 Finals appearances without Shaq and two NBA championships. Even without Shaq, he has only failed to reach the playoffs once in his entire career and had only played in one season in which the Lakers did not having a winning record.

Agreed. Buncha sheep on this board. Not saying he's right by any means, but people run in herds around here. If you read the OP's posts, he actually happens to have a decent grasp on basketball and the recent history of it. He's not saying anything too outrageous, yet posters are trying to collect some E-points by calling him dumb.

ESPN wasn't nearly as mainstream as it is today 20 - 30 years ago. Most people got their sports news weekly from sports illustrated.

i remember when he couldn't get to the championship series at the beginning of his career and couldn't even get a team into the playoffs at the end of his career .. in between .. he had pippen and phil ... not saying one way or the other .. but the OP isn't exactly off his rocker crazy ..
