I dont even understand how it's even theoretically possible that this groups of players has resulted in the 99th ranked defense in the country.

I mean, lets just take a look at the front seven. going by scout's ratings, which are usually pretty solid

WDE - alex okafor *****
DT - chris whaley ****
DT - desmond jackson *****
SDE - reggie wilson ***** (that's AFTER losing jackson jeffcoat mind you)
SLB - demarco cobbs *****
MLB - jordan hicks *****
WLB - steve edmond *****

and what does this disgusting bevy of talent in the front seven result in for texas? the 106th ranked rushing defense in the country.

how in the fricking frickiddy frick is this even possible? what exactly are mack brown and manny diaz coaching?

Just cause you are 5 stars doesn't mean you gonna be a star

A little bit is poor scheming but most of all its the shittiest team preparation (both offense & defense) you might find in the entire nation. Doesn't matter how many stars a group of players have when they have flat out quit on their Coaches. And in this case, I don't blame the players for one instance quitting on Mack. Lord knows that most of the Texas fanbase has after last Saturday.

I would sure rather all 5's and 4's than all 2's and 3's though.

If you are judging the players why do stars matter?

seeing as there are at least 8 guaranteed nfl draft picks on that d, scouts apparently disagree. or maybe scout just guessed and got super duper lucky. there is a pretty blatantly obvious and indisputable correlation between recruiting ratings a college success. it doesn't mean it is a rule. i dont get why some people automatically respond NU UHH STARS MEAN NOTHING JACOB HESTER WAS A 2 STAR EVERY 5 STAR ENDS UP SUCKING ALWAYS ITS SCIENCE.

the point is, they're obviously absurdly talented, how exactly can the coaching be so bad that they perform this poorly

mack has never managed to frick up defenses in the past though, correct? Has he gone full retard recently? or was manny diaz a one hit wonder in his lone DC season at moo state?

Exactly. This thread needs to be cross referenced to the one speculating about the new Texas coach.

Coaches don't miss tackles and blow coverage. Every year we see average/bad players get drafted some end up doing well because they found the right fit it doesn't mean they weren't bad back then.

As for the correlation, that doesn't change what the stars are measuring which is hype not talent.

Coaches don't miss tackles
Coaching puts you in position to make tackles but players have to make plays
