interesting editorship on TD. My title literally said the Knicks fired Tom Thib and it was changed to the first sentence of Shams tweet instead.

eta: first they come for your titles, then they come for your guns. beware.

made the Knicks relevant for the first time in 20 years? NOT GOOD ENOUGH! GONE!

The NBA does this shite constantly, it's nothing new.

Hmm maybe Mike Malone to the Knicks? Wonder how they’ll go about this

Thibs hated to play his bench when he had one. How hardheaded and blind was that? He can coach, but he has always been one weird dude when it comes to managing his roster for a season.

He brings teams up to heights and then routinely gets fired leaving people scratching their heads.

NBA players would rather lose than be coached hard.

Apparently this trend isn’t just for the NBA. I just read that NHL’s Dallas Stars have fired their coach after reaching the finals in the West, and Tottenham of the EPL fired theirs after winning a Europa round.

Thibs has been criticized for years for the amount of minutes he puts on his starters. It's probably the big reason they broke down in last year's playoffs. He played 6 players pretty much all year and then in this playoffs decided to start utilizing his bench. The regular season is when you want to figure that stuff out, not the playoffs.

I don’t follow the NBA closely, but it’s crazy how quickly franchises are tossing aside successful head coaches these days.

It’s probably the analytics mind in front offices now… why keep a guy now when you know he’s not the guy…

I mean they were only 1 spot above relegation. That can’t happen if you’re Tottenham

It was like at least a 15 point gap… they were never in any danger

They were completely non-competitive for 90+% of that series. In the last game he pulled the arguable best goalie in the league after 2 breakaway goals with no help from his non-competitive teammates, and ran the bus over that goalie a few times in the postgame press conference. He was basically begging to be fired.

It doesnt matter you cant be that far down when you’re a club thats used to being in the top half. That cant happen.

I don’t follow EPL. These two were just grouped in the same article.
