I’m fully aware that a lot of people have quit watching this league in the last 5 years or so because of the heavy involvement of wokeness, BLM, and liberal political crap.

Aside from that, though, has there ever been a professional sports league with a less interesting regular season, where outrageously overpaid stars routinely skip games for mysterious reasons?

I honestly have no idea how anyone could continue to be a loyal consumer of this poor bogus and disingenuous product.

The NFL was way worse when it came to that stuff

I can’t watch the regular season. I’ve tried. It just sucks. Definitely not politically driven.

The playoffs are usually watchable. I will say that.

I grew up playing basketball and love it.

I can’t watch a regular season NBA game for long. It’s just monotonous.

Playoff basketball is legit because you can see the intensity ramp up.

The NBA has a niche product, and they do pretty well with it, given the limited audience.

Its certainly not as exposed as other sports are to things like displeasure within its fan base about the politics of the league-- its a woke league because its fan bases is not of an anti-woke mindset.

Its in better shape than baseball, and less at war with its own fans than the NFL-- so that puts it in reasonably good shape for a professional sports league these days.

This is where I’m at. The possibilities of what can happen on a diamond or football field seem much higher in number than what you see on the court. It’s run, shoot a three. Inbound, run, screen, 3. Rebound, run, pass, 3.

Growing up in the 80s and going into the 90s, it was fabulous to watch. It’s basically just street ball now. I’ve tried to watch and just can’t do it.

Reduce games from 82 to 60 and you would have less saturation and likely a better product

Seems like every player has a 100 million dollar contract in the nba

Everyday I see some reason player i know existed is getting 100 mil.

But yes the limited amount I di watch, it’s so easy. There’s not much in your face defense

Dribble down and shoot 3’s bc the defense is giving you a huge cushion . It’s basically a step above practice

This is a ridiculous take. They shoot a ton of 3’s now because it’s an emphasis on skill development now and basically everyone on the court today is a great shooter. They are in your face defensively plenty but not much you can do when a 6’11” dude rises up in your face and drills a 25 footer.

Larry Bird was basically a unicorn in his day with his length, finesse, strength, and shooting ability.

Now every team has multiple guys with that skill set, obviously not at Larry Birds level, but same style of play.

I enjoyed the intense physical basketball of the 90’s and early 2000’s too, but they don’t do that anymore because attacking a packed paint is dumb and packing the paint doesn’t work anymore since everyone can shoot.

My favorite line is saying they don’t play defense. Have you watched their all star game? That’s no defense.

Have y’all watched these guys at shoot around? They don’t miss.

The NBA could help the regular season by tying in the season stat leaders by using totals instead of per game average. For example leading scorer is the one who scores the most total points over an 82 game regular season, not the one who scores the most points per games yet plays 10 less games and scores a couple of hundred less points.

You’re not wrong. I want to love the game the way I did years ago. I will still watch my Spurs, but I used to watch every big game I could regardless of matchup. It’s not that way anymore.

Today’s games are so predictable. Baseball with the home run/strikeout crisis has gone through the same stuff, but there are at least attempts at getting more action going with the enlargement of the bases, limited pickoffs, clocks, shift elimination, etc.
