2nd lowest variance for any major since Data golf has been in existence I believe.

Do they factor in players pre-tourney skill into that number or is it just how they are playing this week?

Like does bryson being a top 5 ranked player shooting awful make the variance lower?

Now that I’ve enjoyed his massive failures in the majors, I’m interested to see if he’ll actually swallow some pride and make any changes before the US Open.

Rahm really squandering an opportunity to make a move late in probably the best conditions of the day wind wise

SIAP, but Higgo is +5 and will miss the cut. Would’ve made the cut without the penalty.

Thats actually pretty lame.. I understand rules are rules but it didnt hold up anything. That takes it from a funny moment that didnt really matter (he was never gonna win) to actually a huge impact. Meanwhile guys like Harman and Cantlay delay every tournament they play in and dont face any actual punishments.

Just got back from day 2. The weather has been pretty crappy for fans. Cold, wet, windy. I’m not sure if that translates on TV. But it’s been miserable.

Unm; the data backed that up

There is no strategy period for this course or setup. Its get to the middle of the green and two putt

Rory might could get to the middle of the green if he could hit a fairway.

There is a strategy besides just bomb it and pray if you have a complete game. You have to have a willingness to try to adapt to the course tho. Like Jason Day, Hideki. They find a way to not shoot +5

McGinley made a great point after the round. He said the players have so many advantages today. He named about a half dozen things including track man on every swing, pristine grounds to play on, tons of analytics, teams of people behind the scenes- and said don’t give me any pushback because the pins are hard. You have all these advantages but yet the golf course makes one adjustment and they can’t cope.
Not be sound like a boomer but he’s right. All the guys from pre 2000 had none of those advantages and still played hard courses.

They can’t cope? The cut was only +3

This course isn’t murdering anyone. It’s just playing as a big pileup around Par
