Yep.
NFL playoffs are no different. Some years you have terrible wildcard games and some years you have phenomenal games.

They need better crews or refs need to stop pulling for these home teams. Really poor refereeing calls that waste time overturning on game I am watching.
SMU QB is a mess with his decisions this first half. And coach keeps pushing his button and forcing it.
SMU is decent and Indiana had decent team too. But no where as strong as the top teams and won’t be competitive in these type games. Champs only and then enough to make 8 teams total. That’s enough.

There will never be 12 worthy teams. You MIGHT have 4 or 5 worthy teams in a given year.

Both these first 2 games would have been standard bowl games in last year’s format with numerous starters sitting out. Just chill and enjoy watching full strength teams play football in December.

What they need to do is up the standards. For instance the FCS committee doesn’t look at non-D1 wins since a lot of teams will play a D2 team. The playoff committee should only weigh P4 wins.
Essentially should require teams to have 9+ P4 wins to be in consideration. That allows you to still schedule a G5 game or FCS game as a tune up, and allows you one slip up game. You can use that 12th game as you please, maybe you want an extra tune up game or maybe you schedule a Purdue type team to give you some breathing room.

They need to go to 16 teams, no byes and NO Conference Championships. Get the real top teams in the playoffs, not some fraud teams like Indiana and SMU - and next frauds - Arizona State and Boise State.
Why the hell does the SEC demand that SEC teams have to play another top team from another conference with the strength of the SEC? They are basically taking out two SECteams from the playoffs.
These fraud teams play one tough game (and loses) and the committee anoits them as a Cinderella team that will make noise in the playoffs. This has been a disaster so far.

I am 100% for putting in teams that actually have a chance over those that absolutely do not.
You just don’t want Bama to win. That is what you care about.
