Made a trip over there for a couple of games this past weekend.
My first turn off was the $11 beer than turned into $14.75 after the service charge and tax.
I hate domes and this one is no different, over the top loud speakers and cheer leaders? Cheerleaders at a baseball game is trashy. Food is expensive and just so so.
Why didn’t they just put a roof over the old one? Which is owned now by the Chalktaws , it’s much larger than the new one.

I hate domes too, they need to be used for rain only.

Old park was absolutely beautiful.

I agree they should have upgraded the old one. They had to do something though, those afternoon games in august were absolutely brutal.

I stopped going to Rangers games during the summer a few years ago because of the heat, they definitely needed that climate controlled environment for the summer, especially because more often than not they suck

They had to do something because nobody was attending games in July and August. Too damn hot! I'm sure they looked at adding a roof to the old stadium and it wasn't feasible.

This is the case at every single sporting event in the country.

Beyond fans sitting in left field boiling during summertime games, the Rangers claimed they were losing out on free agents that didn’t want to play in that kind of heat.

The Ballpark was a great venue if your seat was in the shade.

ETA: at least the Rangers have women cheerleaders (my preference) & not males like some other Texas orgs…

First, it's hot as hell here, nobody wants to sit in the sun and bake for 9 innings. The prices for beers and food are high at all stadiums if you didn't notice. Complaining about women cheerleaders, maybe you don't like women. I find them very satisfying. Lastly, the dome is retractable. Ya'll always complaining like mitches....

New globe life is soulless and as bland as you can get but damnit Im 42 years old and the amount of comfort and convenience I can enjoy in that building is top notch.

And they struggled to attract top free agent pitchers

I grew up going to the Rangers and Frisco Rough Rider games. And let me tell you. Those July-August day games are brutal. I wish they could’ve maintained the existing one and just modified it but I guess they decided they couldn’t.

But they had to do something.

The old park had so much character. Shame they couldn't retro fit it with a dome. The new park is so cookie cutter and bland. It's entirely devoid of life.

My only complaint about it was just how dark and lifeless it feels. Even with the roof open somehow

The old Arlington park was a beautiful ball park. I get it was hot as balls but it’s baseball what do you want? The new indoor park looks depressing as shite on TV. I can only imagine what it’s like being inside that dump.
