There is no way this guy is worth $4m. He has never produced at a high level.

Hopefully schools rethink the strategy of buying 5* HS QBs with huge $. All of the notable cases of that are backfiring.

Holding out when 11 of your 19 TDs came against DIII schools is quite the move but I guess there’s a school out there telling him they will pay that

Idk if there is. Thr rumors I'm reading say the family reached out to Oregon, and it was Lanning that let Heupel know the family's shopping around. That's why I said this could potentially backfire on them.

Keep recruiting folks. It's the greatest protection that exists in a very volatile work environment.

But then you gotta win if you let the QB walk…and it also sends the signal to future kids that Tennessee won’t pay. The worst thing any AD can be is cheap

I think it shows that Tennessee is strong, not cheap. They can easily spin this as if you come in and perform, you will be taken care of, but you can’t put yourself above the team and expect to be coddled, ESPECIALLY if you’re average.

Also, no power 5 team should sign him. Send a message across the board.

Didn’t they already give in when they bragged about giving this cross dresser $8M out of high school?

Not necessarily. I’m sure they have guys on their roster getting paid and are happy with that. Nico from all accounts has been a diva and a half. Players will understand the difference.

He was given an $8 million contract while he was still in high school. That doesn’t strike me as a program being cheap.

Someone will pay him but the P4 freezing him out would be the best move for college football in years

Not sure why this keeps getting repeated? Who? The teams who want to spend that kind of money already have, and despite the bitching and moaning on this board, teams aren’t just paying whatever players want.

I don’t see any high level landing spot, probably going to end up back near the west coast at a Mountain West type school for at least a season.

Good on Tennessee here, I’m all for players getting paid whatever they can, but it’s a two way street and Nico lost here, as he should have
