400M flat - nearly hit the American record today. Olympic trials begin in 2 weeks. And this isn't even her main event (400M hurdles).

Need to look at the Olympic calendar but the 400 and 400H are definitely in line for a double based on her times.
She should be considered the favorite for both events. Also has the second best 200 time in the world.
Noah Lyles put up a damn good time today (not at all surprising considering his consistency and performances for several years).
Now what the hell is going on with Fred Kerley?

Reminiscent of Secretariat at Belmont.

I remember her at Kentucky for her one year just embarrassing the field. Generational talent for sure.

And a great human from all accounts.

Pumped for the Olympics this year. She was an absolute killer in 2020. Any chance she is allowed to run the 400 & 400 hurdles?

She will run both at the trials and I would bet she wins both later this month.
Then she and Bobby Kersee will have to decide if she’ll double up.
I say they should give it a shot.
Miller-Uibo had a child last year, Paulino is her most realistic completion, and Salwa Eid-Nasser is one of the obvious cases of doping ever, where she is now 3-4 seconds behind her doped times.
She may not double in gold, but I bet she at least gets a medal in the 400.

Femke Bol jogged 52.49 at European championships today
Both the mens and womens 400 hurdles will be the best events of the Olympics by a large margin.

Loves Jesus and is supposedly a very sweet person, just like many many of the top track ladies (Shecarri Richardson excluded).
Also quote stunning how the 400m events have really become the glamor events in the last 3-5 yrs. The field is beyond loaded now.

She’s amazing. T&F will be fun to watch this year.

It’s so hard to tell what people’s maxes are at this point. But Femke Bol’s Euro 2024 time is just a bit better than her 2022 time.
Karsten Warholm’s time today is slower than what dos Santos and Rai Benjamin have been doing so far.
The men’s 400H has been THE event for the last three years because when healthy, any of the top 3 can win. On the women’s side, McLaughlin hasn’t lost a race in ages, it’s just that she almost never races outside of the Olympic years.

Speaking of 400m phenoms, Britton Wilson out of the Olympics due to lingering injuries.

Will she be racing any biological dudes in the Olympics?

That’s wild. Lends credence to the idea that training for races harms long term development

It’s interesting to see because her biggest rival has the exact opposite strategy. Femke Bol races more than pretty much anyone, and they are the two best athletes in their event and can be extremely competitive in other events as well.
