I would love an NBA team here.

I’ll trade you the Hornets for the Rays.

What’s the new stadium going to seat?

If it’s less than 30k they will probably pack the house most nights.

The renderings have way to many fans in the seats. After the initial bump it will be back to 5-10K per game.

Probably.

I’ve been there and the current location is one of the worst in sports.

It is annoying as hell to get to

You have to think this is reason for the low attendance because on the field they have been better than I think anyone could have reasonably hoped for.

Since 2000

10 playoff appearances - only the Yankees, Cardinals, Dodgers, Astros, Braves, Red Sox, Indians have more.

4 AL East championships - only the Yankees and Red Sox (5) have more.

2 AL Pennants - only the Yankees, Red Sox, Rangers, Astros, have more.

The constant roster turnover definitely does not help. They have figured out what works and are incredibly well run front office wise but most franchises that have that kind of success have a few star players that are cornerstones as well. Tampa constantly churns the roster and gets value from it

Mighty fine ballpark, there.

What is this, the fourth rendering over the past several years? Fifth?

They need to just move to Nashville already

Traffic is a nightmare during rush hour getting from Tampa across one of the bridges to downtown St Pete.
But like you said the roster turnover doesn't help either. Marlins won the WS when I was a kid with young guys like Beckett and Cabrera and then basically sold off everyone and have the lowest payroll almost every year. Their stadium is also in the wrong location.

In Nashville? If not that’s gonna be a lot of money spent on empty seats and Yankees home games.

The Cubs were an odd choice. Should been an AL East team.

If they don't approve it, which is very possible, it will be the death knell of the Rays in Tampa and they'll relocate to either Nashville or Salt Lake by 2030 IMO

Looks pretty bland IMO.

It’s on par with these football stadiums that all look the same. The organization won’t spend the money to make it any better anyway. Move the team and be done with it.

Biggest obstacle is the Bucs are going to want some money for stadium upgrades and they'll be first in line. Will make the gap between public and private funding for rays park a challenge.
