50/50 vibes on this will happen. I think a final vote will come in August.

Rays CEO Ken Babby discussed the renderings during Wednesday night’s Rays game against the New York Yankees.
"We’re releasing the first set of renderings of the new ballpark as we continue our process forward [and] as we work on definitive documents, [we are] excited to share this new ballpark with our fans," Babby said.
The renderings show a fixed-roof ballpark designed to feel open and bright, with sky views from inside the stadium. The Rays say the design includes about 30,000 fixed seats, with the ability to expand for concerts, conventions and other major events.
The plans also include two large video scoreboards, club spaces near both bullpens, a bar overlooking center field, a retractable batter’s eye and a larger, deeper Rays Touch Tank.
Babby said the roof is one of the features the team is most excited about.
"You’re going to feel like you’re outside with all the comforts and climate controls of being indoors," Babby said during the broadcast.
The primary entrance would sit beyond center field, creating a plaza-style gateway into the ballpark.

The Rays say the broader district would include residential, educational, retail, hospitality, commercial and community spaces. The team says an independent economic analysis projects the development would generate $55.5 billion in total economic impact over 35 years, support 11,900 permanent jobs and attract about 10 million visitors a year.

The Rays say design elements could still change as the team works with Tampa and Hillsborough County leaders toward a final funding agreement.
Babby said during the broadcast that the team met with city and county leaders earlier Wednesday and continues to work on the final documents.
The non-binding framework moved the project forward, but final legal and financial documents still need approval.

That being said, nice looking park but the renderings with that many fans is wildly inaccurate

It is for the first week or so.
And the running theory is they would have more consistent attendance numbers if it wasn't for the drive across the bay to St Pete. We'll see.

The Arlington Rangers park looked nice too until the value engineering happened.

If I remember correctly, part of the issue with fan support is the current park is hard to get to. This new park will be more easily accessible so maybe that will help

To quote Mike Birbiglia, "we're in the future also".

Reminds me of the Brewers field at first glance.
Doesn't take much to be a better environment than Tropicana. Even though they did have great food and beer options.

Would also be cool if they had a better view over CF besides a school building

I’ve been there and the current location is one of the worst in sports.
It is annoying as hell to get to.

Getting to Raymond James is pretty straightforward, so that location can only help.

It will make a difference but the bigger obstacle to keeping it full is the Rays being so cheap and dumping everyone good who comes along. There’s enough transplants over the last few decades with families now that the Rays could surge in popularity locally if they actually had stars people could get behind

One of the initial proposed sites was a place off of Ybor Harbor by Port of Tampa, I believe, but the land was originally designated for a women's professional soccer stadium, so I guess that just fizzled out.

Needs a catwalk just for the fun of it. Do it Tampa!

Looks pretty cool. Now show it without any people there.

Yeah, that’s what Tampa is missing

I know it won't happen, but I would love an NBA team here.

Junior Caminero will hit 90 home runs if this rending is accurate

Looks pretty sweet. Love the bars in center and on the left field line.
