He gave the NBA that authority.

Exactly. Nobody forced him to buy and NBA team. He could have bought a KKK team and would have been well within their rules.

wow.

I expected the life time ban

I expected more of a fine

Im shocked they are forcing the sale of the team. Gonna be hard to sale, since Mrs Sterling owns half. Look for the Seattle group to get the first look or maybe they try and move the team to Vegas depending on the buyers

I agree with this. However, forcing players to work for someone who's racist views were made public shouldn't happen. Not all players get to decide who they play for.

Do you realize how stupid you sound?

I love how they are referred to as minorities. Isn't that term in itself racist? and yet the media refers to this term all the time

Exactly. If he didn't like the rules he could have sold his team at the time and chosen to not be part of it.

Sterling was railroaded, and it sets a terrible presidence with the owners. That being said, if anyone was going to get railroaded, I'm glad it was Sterling hah.

Not at all. Minorities are people that do not, as an ethnic group, make up a majority.

He broke his contract with the NBA and they are punishing him (apparently) in accordance with the contract. Sterling didn't have to buy an NBA team and agree to the NBA bylaws. Don't agree to a contract with a detrimental conduct clause and then spout racism knowing you're being recorded.

This, I don't know why its so hard for people to understand.

So you seriously believe they will move an entire fricking franchise because of one man's private opinion?

I'm sure there is some sort of language in your contract with the NBA when you own a team that allows for a "hostile takeover" of sorts from the other owners if certain transgressions are made. However, where it gets shady is how these views of his were brought to light in which he didn't consent to this audio tape.

yeah but apparently there really isn't much about losing ownership unless you are financially insolvent. there are talks of basically changing the nba constitution and then using that to punish sterling and remove him from ownership. if that is the case (which i have no clue), he could potentially win in court from just that and not even have to address the acquisition of the recording/conversation and its legality.
