Steph Curry is reportedly on the verge of signing a lucrative lifetime contract with Under Armour. The deal could potentially net the 4-time NBA champion more than $1 billion. The news, which has been revealed in Rolling Stone, comes as Curry’s current deal with the brand is scheduled to end in 2024. According to reports, the lifetime contract will also include Curry receiving his own subsidiary brand similar to Nike’s groundbreaking deal with NBA icon Michael Jordan.

Curry, who began his career with a Nike endorsement, left the swoosh in 2013 to sign with Under Armour for close to $4 million per year. That figure has since ballooned to a reported $20 million annually after inking a contract extension with the brand in 2015. According to a representative for Under Armour, Curry’s partnership with the brand will consist of an increased focus and “complete alignment” on helping bolster the superstar’s branding within the world of athletic apparel, footwear, and accessories.

I'm confused. Company was balling a few years ago with Brady, Spieth, Curry, Phelps, and Harper, then looked like it might go bankrupt. Now, Brady is doing ads with Morgan Freeman and Curry is getting a billion. What is the real story?

For that kind of $$$ why not just sign a super team friendly deal with Warriors to fill out the team and win as many rings as possible

This is what I want to know

"[The company's] Stephen Curry signature shoe business is already bigger than those of LeBron, Kobe, and every other player except Michael Jordan," Sole told BusinessInsider.com.

UA stock, as of Friday, is trading at just over $83 a share -- up from $40 per share when they hitched their trailer to Curry in October of 2013.

And now

So lets go all in with a billion?

What mate

The company has been cratering for years. If I’m Steph I’m asking for as much money up front as humanly possible.

I was confused to. My thoughts were their heavy lean toward football. Then the exodus of young players from football. Which was their bread and butter. This is a gambler pushing all his chips in on making a play for basketball and Curry being the guy. You guys can educate me but Curry is not very polarizing to me. He just plays basketball while seeming to have a blast doing it.

Against the CBA to deviate far from market value

The union won’t like that as it could set a precedent for future super stars to do and potentially depress wages.

I play basketball in the Curry 9s. I don't think I'd ever wear anything like that casually.

Excuse me?

It’s cap circumvention to take pay from the team outside of your contract, but I’ve never heard anything in regards to taking less money from a team. How would they even establish “market value” for a player?

ETA: just one example to show that is incorrect, Cousins signed for the taxpayer MLE on a 1 year deal when the Pels were offering him at least 3-4x that amount in year 1 of their offer.
