I'm not sure if Curry actually votes, but if he does I can guarantee you he votes for the very politicians that make him pay that much.

Like how people who aren’t wealthy vote for republicans?

Stated this earlier. Never gets addressed.

It’s like they can’t comprjednd that there are many factors.

If the taxes were exactly the same for both parties I imagine all the evangelicals would suddenly vote Dem. ??

I'll never understand how he isn't allowed to have political or social opinions because he's great at basketball.

Bet you want it both ways.

He obviously needs a tax cut because he is a Job creator.

If you’re talking about the pass-through deduction that everybody was in an uproar about, Curry did not get it at least for his NBA salary. Media jumped the gun big time because the don’t know the process.

If CA law works like AL law and US law then he’s gonna pay the difference of those other states rates and CA’s rate to CA.

So he’ll end up paying CA’s rate

Yeah? He should have just not gotten drafted there right? I swear, I wonder how some of the people on this board dont drown while they're taking a shower.

I know that’s what people say but that’s usually not how it works. He pays the rate of each state to that state then pays the difference to CA. (Depending on CA’s laws)

Here’s a link with a very simplistic breakdown

LINK

quote:

Athletes file taxes not only in their home state but also in every state—and some cities—in which they play. Not every state uses the same calculation to determine what portion of an athlete’s income to tax, and some use different calculations based on the sport.

quote:

The most important issue for an athlete is domicile. This is where a person lives and plans on living into the future. A person can have only one domicile at a given time, and it remains that place until domicile is established somewhere else. Establishing domicile in a low- or no-tax state can save an athlete thousands in taxes by sheltering their endorsement and investment income in a lower tax jurisdiction than where their team is located.

quote:

Being statutory resident means that the person must report all income on that state’s tax return.

quote:

Taxpayers generally receive credits for taxes paid in other states. Usually, credits are taken on a taxpayer’s home-state return.

So how does that work? His employer is in California but since he travels to, let’s just say Minnesota, he now had to pay state taxes on that game check in MN?

I need to become a high end sports agent.

Hell, a middle of the pack sports agent still makes bank.

He pays the tax in each state he plays games in. MLB pays out the full contract in 6mnths I assume NBA is similar. I would be surprised if he claims CA as his residency tho

Most these dudes spent a half a semester in college and have never had much money in their life

You want them to go into negotiations against a team of expert lawyers and team personnel to try to get the best contract?

In this scenario it’s a little less necessary given the tight parameters the NBA has on max deals, but this isn’t Stephs first contract and he didn’t look like a max contract player when he signed his first two contracts.

The NFL has had a couple of dudes like Sherman cut out the agent, and the result has been them taking these fake high numbers that makes it easier for them to get cut because they can’t see the big picture.

Yeah, but the exposure he receives from playing in the bay area exceeds the taxes he pays. Ask Tim Duncan.
