Attended the State HS Wrestling Championship in Bossier City this morning, and will be returning later.

Stood outside for 45 min in 30 degree weather this morning in a 200 plus people line because CenturyLink and the LHSAA simply do not have the combined IQ of a box of hair. Every one associated with that disaster should be tried and executed, have their bodies quartered and then put up along the highways to warn organizations to have enough people on hand to handle the crowds.... for whatever event. Worse of all many parents didn't get to see their son's first match because of the stupidity of CenturyLink and the LHSAA.

Once inside, it was nice. Matches flowed well, looks like Parkway is gonna win another state title.

I like how they split the sports the public schools are actually competitive in, but they don't split the ones they're not

Not one team from Northeast La. Thought OCS once had one?

How many people attend the state wresting meet (not counting athletes and coaches who I assume have a separate entrance)? 2,000 total, maybe? Coming in and out throughout the day?

Pathetic that there is a delay at all.

I don't know how many was there. The bottom "ring" of the place was about 70% full. A lot more than I thought would be there...I was surprised, esp for a Friday morning.

Seems reasonable enough.

it needs to be at the Pontchartrain Center... And whoever says that's too small, it creates demand for tickets, while the NOLA Catholic schools create the best atmosphere of any state championship event

I train BJJ in Monroe and one of our students wrestled at OCS so I think you are right.

I moved here from Houston and my son wrestled all 4 years in high school. Great sport. I have no clue why more schools here in NE LA don't have wrestling. As ate up as this place is with football, you would think that more schools would have wrestling just to augment their football programs.

I get your line of thought, but I heard today football coaches don't want their players wrestling. Football players typically will have to lose 20-30 pounds to get in wrestling shape and football coaches don't want that. Its an intense 3 - 3 minutes sessions.

In my lame defense, how many people would think there would be an extremely long line waiting to get in on the HS state championship first rounds wrestling? Me and almost everyone else wasn't prepared to stay outside 45 minutes while the 3 people working the booths combed their teeth. I knew it was cold but I didn't figure people would have to build igloos outside while they were waiting just to survive.

OCS has one. Probably not a lot of wrestlers as they are currently 15th out of 21 or so teams.

Summerfield has one wrestler. Seems to be a crowd favorite.

Am here also for tournament and no way 70% lower bowl full. More like 40%. Take away wrestlers sitting in stands and actual fans falls to 25% full. If tournament held in South La where 90% of teams reside the venue would be 90% capacity and overflow for finals.

The way this tournament is run is a joke! 1 hr wait in 30 degree weather to buy tickets for several hundred fans. Bossier gonna Bossier

It’s usually seems more crowded than this year. Maybe the weather affected people traveling.
