Story I got was varsity sports like football and basketball would be tuition free.
But if I'm a parent in the marching band I'd be pretty pissed if I'm paying full price considering how well known they are

How many horses that won one or more Triple Crown races made more money in that year than older, faster horses due to the prestige of those events and that only 3-year-old horses are eligible to compete?
There’s sometimes a novelty aspect to sports and other things that affect how much money you earn. It’s not always just about how good you are at something.

So matching what Karr and Chalmette kids pay in next year’s Catholic League?

The coaches, school administration, and school board will find away to pay themselves with the nil money.

I've always stuck to doing high school sports because it was the last pure level of the sport. When NIL first got legalized, I knew this day was coming after 50 plus years being around it. For the first time I am strongly considering the fact that it's likely time for me to ride off.

so if NIL at St aug just means boosters paying tuition and leveling the playing fields with the public school.....what is the issue
and lets say its a normal kid but he is really good at coding and creates an app that makes him millions is that a problem? is it a problem if st aug gets him to come there with free tuition instead of John Ehret? is it an issue because he isnt repping Marrero?
what if its a kid who has a huge youtube channel and makes money that way....is that an issue?
this whole....we must never change arguement is dumb af.
pass 100% school choice, let the kids and parents choose where they want to go to school and let the schools compete for students and the $$$ that comes with them.

I can see u frickers really don't read or don't want to read. This is not a NIL collective for St. Aug. This is to educate the kids/parents on if your child is good enough how to navigate this scene without a uncle or a handler stepping in. Keeping IMG the frick out and avoiding a Jahkeem Stewart fiasco again.

it doesnt matter...they see NIL and immediately think bad
but even if it was NIL....how much do we realistically think a HS kid would make? i mean the concern over this is so laughable
and how dare a private school even the playing field and make it cost the same as attending a public school....how dare they!!! cant be having private schools offer free tuition....that is recruiting!!!
most posters on here barely graduated HS and cant think critically about things like this. its all emotional outrage like a fricking liberal arse women.

In most urban parishes school choice is between failing school A or B.
Grace king was the top performing non magnet school in Jefferson parish and they got culled in a parish w open enrollment.
Now if school choice can cross parish lines boom

Uh huh. Riiiiiiiiiiiiight
I can absolutely read, yet im smart enough to understand where this is headed and influence it will distribute to those in head roles in these programs.
"Navigate this scene" is correct. Both the good and bad ways to navigate.
Schools navigating a kids life is as corrupt as it can get.

So you would rather a random arse uncle take advantage of a kid/family ???(which we have seen time and time again) or the educational institution that they have entrusted to educate/develop the kid and has been since 1951 to teach them how to navigate this area.

Not gonna happen. They play on a different level than even any Catholic school, even Karr, football and money-wise. We hate it but when they call you go.

Not sure that was a fiasco… he exercised school choice like we all would when St. Aug didn’t work for him anymore

i want 100% school choice, across school board districts and parish.
But schools should have a choice to accept the student or not. But if the school says yes....the student should be able to go anywhere in the state and the money follow him. Private, public, home school AI based programs like alpha school etc. So long as its an accredited school/program

So they decided to become the IMG of Louisiana? Good for them.

Where's the father? Why are you skipping your some "random" arse uncle. How are uncles random?
There's no difference. Your model has people guiding him, yet takes donations.
Like I said, only difference is where they are guided to and why.
You yourself know damn well where this will go, at St Aug, and every other school that does similar.
And also, why would that uncle be automatically taking advantage of a kid. What is hes truly supporting and helping. Are you saying black uncles of st aug kids are all criminals? WTF are you saying as a while about the community that delivers kids to St Aug?
I know you are a strong St aug guy and genuinely love the place and assume the best.
I hate that a kid might be stupid with money. But you were, I was, and so is every damn kid going to college, lol
If a kid makes 1 M dollars next year from LSU, and spends that on the people in his family that put him into a position to be successful and be at St Aug, then what business of mine is it.
