I guarantee you the ratings for these playoff games are great and they’re highly competitive.

That seems like a great trade-off for butchering the drama of top 10 matchups throughout the season.

Dude FCS has 24 teams, personally I would have chosen 16 teams but acting like 24 is some death knell is so overdramatic

Probably about 2 touchdowns

Uh, yeah, I do. #6 currently has a 45-17 win over #15 and a 56-23 win over #16.

Last year, in the quarterfinals, there was a 38-3 difference between #1 and #9.

FCS doesn’t have haves and have nots from a revenue and thus roster perspective

Georgia and Wake Forrest are not the same

12 teams has been perfect IMO

No it hasn't. In 2 years of the 12 team format, only 2 out of 16 games in the first 2 rounds have been decided by single digits. 8 of the 16 games have been decided by 3+ scores.

12 was already too many. It should have never been expanded beyond 8 teams. 8 was perfect because you could auto-bid 5 conference champs, so there's no debates about something like 2023 FSU or an undefeated G5 not getting shafted. And then your 3 at large teams are usually going to be 11 win teams...or at worst a 10 win team that played a really tough schedule and has a few high quality wins. Expands the playoff enough to where everyone who is actually deserving of playing for a national title will get that shot, but doesn't cheapen the regular season.

21st ranked UCLA beat 13th ranked Oregon, both Florida and LSU lost to unranked opponents. I can do this too

Oregon got blown out by Oklahoma State earlier in the year. The very fact that they were still ranked after that was due to last season's results.

Florida started out the season unranked anyway and LSU lost to the team that is currently ranked #15. The latter of which tumbled out of the Top 25 after barely beating the team Florida just lost to.

Conference play just started, using this years rankings is stupid, go look at rankings from the end of regulars seasons in years past. There’s usually 5-8 real teams, a second tier of 3-5, then 20 to 45ish are all pretty close, but number 9 is going to blow number 24 out just about every season. Especially when number 9 is playing a home game

Might want to go look at the past 2 years of 12 team results. 50% of the games in the first 2 rounds were won by 3+ scores. That will only get worse when you have teams who barely snuck into the top 25 in a playoff field.

lol. Top 10 matchups like Ole Miss and LSU? Neither of whom is really a top 10 team.
The top ten matchup is rare and after they moved to 12, they became irrelevant. Rankings are idiotic until late in the season, top 10 matchups in weeks 1-8 are usually media hype machines to draw eyeballs.

Move to 24 balances the byes, makes up for all these mega league scheduling imbalances, and gives middle tier power programs and small schools a punchers chance on the big stage.

You also had dumb rules sending G5 teams to on campus games against teams that would become semifinalists. They accounted for 3 of those Ls. The other was Ohio state, the eventual national champion 8 seed, eviscerating and overrated SEC 9 seed who was there by virtue of a softened schedule.

A punchers chance to get the shite kicked out of them by the teams that actually deserve to be in the playoff maybe

Now you have dumb rules of sending Wake Forrest instead of Bouse State

Edit: Wake Forrest AND Boise State. So now both can get their shite kicked in instead of just one. Awesome!

You’re basically saying you wouldn’t tune in to watch #11 v #22 because it’s a forgone conclusion that it will be a blowout. Likely 9-3 v 10-2

Meanwhile, #23 last year would have been Iowa. Who lost to the national champs on a 3rd and 10 broken tackle with a minute left. Oregon on a walkoff FG, and destroyed what would have been the #14 seed in the bloomin’ onion classic.

Get real, boner

Ok...I am the old man on the porch yelling at the clouds...

College Football Was Great

* Regional Rivalries - talking crap to people you lived near...UCLA and Rutgers fans have nothing in common...Pitt and Clemson no history...etc etc

* Goal one was always to win your conference and see where the chips lay...now your goal is not get injured for the potential next 4 to 5 games...

* Regular season meant something each week...oh you are 10-0..well the next weeks lets play some of our back ups to make sure they are ready just in case

* Bowl Games - yes, I think losing these are terrible...for fans..you stick through a tough season you still usually got rewarded with a nice warm location...and now the Rose, Sugar, etc are no longer events...they are just game hosts...

People will say teams like mine VT should be happy as there is a better chance at the playoffs, while probably true, still to me would never beat winning the conference and then playing a big game against a Texas or Auburn, etc...oh yeah, we got our arse kicked, so what I am going on Borbon St and partying...now if it happens, enjoy crappy Columbus or Norman in December (no offense, no one wants to go to Blacksburg either)
