The larger problem aside from NIL is more so how selection is done and the fact that we still likely have minimal campus playoff games

The issue is there aren't 24 teams capable of winning it all each season. There aren't even 12.

Just adding more blowouts for money.

Colleges are jacking up ticket prices and increasing donation minimums for season tickets.

LIST PRICE for last row upper deck tickets for the PSU White Out between two shitty teams this year was over $300.

Something will eventually give as the season gets devalued, especially if you get a major downturn in the economy.

Four was perfect.
4 was better than 12, and certainly 24, but I could’ve been cool with an expansion to 8, or 10 with some sort of play in games or byes to make it make sense.

4 was fine though.

I can't wait to hear the arguments on College Football Final on the Saturday night after Thanksgiving:

"Look! Illinois is 8-4 and has wins over 7-5 Kent State and 5-7 Akron. That makes their resume slightly better than 8-4 Mississippi State, who beat a 6-6 UL-Monroe team and a 4-8 Southern Miss squad. Therefore, the Fighting Illini deserve the final slot in the 24-team playoff!"

"But Mississippi State plays in the SEC!"

"They lost to a 3-9 Vanderbilt squad, Dave!"

"And Illinois lost to 2-10 Rutgers!"

12 teams has been perfect IMO. 24 is extreme overkill.

The regular season means less and less.

Upset your hated rival to hand them a 2nd loss before November and now it doesn't really mean shite because they can still got 2-2 in November and make the 24 team field.

College football's regular season is now college basketball's.

How much do you pay attention to college basketball regular season?

This thing will be like basketball before long with two play in games

Absolutely. They won't stop at 24 just ilke college baketball didn't stop at 64. This shite only grows.

You'll have 8-4 Iowa State vs 7-5 Vanderbilt in a play-in game soon enough, because they can sell commercials for it.

This going to create a ton of blowouts, especially in the first two rounds. Congrats to the 9-3/8-4 teams, you got blasted in round 1 of the playoffs instead of winning the Reliaquest Bowl.

Dumb. You really think there is some huge difference between 9 and 24 or 10 and 23?

These are marquee games in a regular season. With scheduling imbalance, you’re bound to get many teams ranked 17-24 advancing

Top 8 all get a bye, rest of the teams play an on campus play in game.

I guarantee you the ratings for these playoff games are great and they’re highly competitive.

This isn't basketball or baseball where you can sometimes see the smaller schools make cinderella runs. That will never happen in football, especially in the NIL era. You know it and I know it.
