Los Angeles Lakers star Russell Westbrook is planning to exercise his $47.1 million option for the 2022-23 season to return to the franchise, sources told ESPN on Tuesday.

Westbrook's agent Thad Foucher is planning to file the paperwork Tuesday, sources said. Westbrook has a Wednesday deadline on his option.

A bad player is going to pick up his option to be one of the highest paid players in the league? Wild!

I figured he would have declined so he could go get the mid level exception for $6 million

people legitimately thought he would turn down $47 million to sign for $6 million

What does he look like, Boogie Cousins?

You're confusing him with Kyrie.

Speaking of Kyrie:

quote:

Irving and the Nets discussed a two-year max extension that included incentives based on games played, as well as a four-year max that included two guaranteed years and triggers for years three and four based on the games played in years one and two.

Irving showed a willingness to accept an incentive based deal before countering with a short-term contract extension that protected both sides with a player option. The Nets declined to accept that offer and Irving exercised his opt-in for 22-23 at $36.5 million.

The Nets are actually truly sick of his shite.

This dude is not worth 47 mil. He wasn’t worth that even when he was avg a triple double the whole season.

Move that decimal place a few spots to the left and the Lakers might get their money's worth.

The NBA is truly "frick you" level contracts

Russ getting $47 million in a single season is absurd

All based on a % of revenue via the CBA.
