There are a ton of no name garbage tournaments that earn OWGR points. I think with how competitive the LIV field is now, and continues to get stronger, they will get approved.

This is also something I don’t understand as someone watching from the sidelines. And the comeback will be that we buy Saudi oil but I’d much prefer it if we never did business with people who hate us. Also, I’d have a lot more respect for LIV golfers if they just said they are doing it for the money and didn’t try to make some bullshite reason for leaving the PGA.
Oil? This country is the second-largest trading partner for the Saudi government and has been for decades. Second largest. Let that sink in for just a few seconds.

PGA tour just announced eight 20 million dollar purse tournaments for their top 50 players…..
Lower ranked guys get tournaments at the end of the year to help solidify their status

I'd have a lot more respect for the LIV haters if they just admitted the PGA is just pissed because of the money. All this moral caterwauling about the evil Saudis is pretty empty.
(FTR, I'm pretty neutral. I'd much rather the players stay with the PGA but I don't begrudge them for maximizing their income.)

What did Phil say would happen just a few months ago? He talked about LIV vs leverage and a big stick. Now, Jay needs to embrace the rest of world golf and plenty of these LIV players will be back playing PGA tourneys.

Good, that's what they should've done a year ago before they "banned" 4 of their top 10 most popular players by their own metrics

I’m pretty sure they told those players they were working on it….

Spot on. That's why I freaking hate the NLU guys. They just want all these radical changes for no freaking reason and complain about the dumbest shite when golf has never been more entertaining. That attitude opens the door for something like LIV.

Just about everyone watches golf on TV, so you’re referring to a very niche demographic.
Exactly why this board is so happy abt this, mostly living in states without a good PGA event. For us that have access to an event, this LIV BS needs to be killed off.

They likely would have kept “working on it” as long as they could get away with it.

LIV fans and PGA fans are fighting like the Blue and the Gray. This could be fun eventually. Wonder if Monahan or Norman use Sherman's tactics?

This sounds good.... When people are make 50..70..120k a year. Yeah I'd turn my notice in today if another bank offered me 100mm but not if I'm making 20 ..30 million a year already. And that's for the foreseeable future ( Rham scheffler morikawa Xander JT etc)
Phil signed in for a rumored 200mm plus purse but he also lost ..30 40 in sponsors ( I don't know there exact amount but woouldnt be shocked if not more) if those sponsors don't come back... How much better off is Phil who was making 60 70 mm a year?
What happens when the Saudis move on and the tour money is based off sponsors...and they are right back to where they are now. So..I would suspect that overall net dollars for the young stars isn't all that is much different especially when there a risk factor in the LIV vs a rock steady PGA
I would imagine that the PGA tour comes out with something for pros that miss c the cut ... 5 or 10k or 100k pool to also make it ab little easier for young pros ( but that will affect overall money)

If you made 100k right now and someone offered you 200k, you'd take it. Pretty simple.
