I have yet to hear anyone discuss growing the game, except Norman, who has to say it.

Graeme McDowell, Patrick Reed, Pat Perez, Andy Ogletree, Peter Uhlein, and a bunch of other players have been saying it because it’s one of the talking points they’re supposed to use.

Well I know their network deals don't compare to the NFL, NBA, or MLB for starters, which is going to be the biggest chunk of revenue for any sports league. And their revenue doesn't touch several of the international soccer leagues. And why would the PGA Tour produce comparable revenues to those leagues? It's pretty clear it's not as popular worldwide or really even close to those sports. Even if they are secretive about releasing their exact accounting, I don't think it's taking much of a leap to say their not generating the kind of money those leagues are.

Forbes says that the American side of the PGA contract they just signed through NBC, CBS, and ESPN+ is close to 700 million. Sky Golf, Golf channel, and all the media rights worldwide, which is a very popular product, puts it well north of a billion dollars. Within all that is their marketing schemes and making revenue off the superstars of the game. Which the actual superstars don't benefit from.

They don't have to show their work. Neither did Al Capone. Never a good business model.

I swear your posting style is that you purposefully take the contrarian view and then beat that drum until your hands bleed...and then you beat it even more.
I remember when pride used to relentlessly call me the MSB contrarian.

I don’t think rooting for the PGA tour is the contrarian view at all. I think the MSB is an outlier honestly. It’s a message board built on talking about sports drama. It’s going to lean to loving the drama of it all.

Brooks told everyone that was listening why he didn’t play in London. He had just gotten married and wasn’t playing golf that week. He gave no fake answer as to why he didn’t join LIV.

He also didn't tell the lady he was leaving for LIV the next day after the Open. So she really didn't get what she wanted, did she?

Nobody on this board is passing up 100 million to go work for another company.

nobody on this board is worth 100+ million either. Maybe put this in relative terms because no shite someone making 6 figures would leave their job for one offering 9 figures. Maybe more like person A is making $200k/year (all sources of income) and a competitor offered $2 million guaranteed over the next 4 years to leave your job but doing so would potentially blackball you from all other sources of income (sponsors for golfers) and/or from all other business contacts in your industry.

Most of the golfers did during the press conference before the first LIV tournament.

It didn't take a genius to figure out Brooks was going to be playing for LIV eventually when his hack brother got invited to play.

I don’t expect golf fans to get on any player with any true consistency

I would say it’s agreed upon Reed is not liked. And he still is “supported” at golf tournaments.

I hate LIV, but wouldn’t think about booing any LIV player. I don’t have issues with the players

Also being reported it will be a no cut event.

Likely so. It’s for the top 50 players based on the previous years standings.

I don’t give a frick about the Saudis

If the Saudis want to come take over the pga tour and run it how it was before and simply make the purses higher, I would be just fine
