They just want all these radical changes for no freaking reason and complain about the dumbest shite when golf has never been more entertaining. That attitude opens the door for something like LIV.
What in the world are you talking about?
LIV is taking over because they have $. They’re enticing players with money. There aren’t a whole lot of ways to stop that.
The guys going over can spew their BS about wanting to “grow the game”, but we all know the reason they’re doing it, and I think the vast majority of people who understand why they’re doing it. It just kind of sucks as of now.

Phil signed in for a rumored 200mm plus purse but he also lost ..30 40 in sponsors
He also had a verbal meltdown. He set LIV back months. That's why he lost a lot of his big sponsors.
I watched Dustin and others at their LIV tourney. They still were wearing Callaway, Taylor Made, Nike, stuff. Those are lifetime sponsors for a lot of these guys.

The true alphas are joining LIV. The beta daddy country club boys are staying with the PGA.

Speaking of Ryder Cup and Olympics, wonder how they will pick them now? Because I think it is based of Tour points in some fashion. But you want to send your best guys

He said exactly what he thought. He thought it sucks that they keep asking him questions about LIV and not the US Open Tournament that he is there to play.
Eh, I'm not mad at Brooks and think the media is dishonest, but "I don't get it" and "I don't understand" - that's complete BS
Everyone understands. Brooks obviously knows why people are more interested in him potentially leaving for LIV than they are his likely uncompetitive weekend at the US Open.

PGA tour just announced eight 20 million dollar purse tournaments for their top 50 players
Phil was right....
Prediction... This causes major changes to the PGA Tour for the better, and players get much more compensation and rights to their own images. And, 4 years from now, when these deals are done with LIV, they return to the PGA Tour.
Meanwhile, they will be hated by many for jealousy and other reasons.
In the end, they will have made a much more positive impact on the tour than they will get credit for.

So, why don’t you call out the LIV people, multiple posters, that said the application was submitted and it was looking promising?
Just middle ground shel with no angle or bias I see
That's a pretty big deflection, why did you guarantee it was denied if you didn't even know it hadn't been sent?
quote:I don't give a shite about the PGA staying alive, I'm 100% in it for the chaos. I've said that a few times, I've also said over and over this is not good for golf. I'm not rooting either way, I just love the story and discussion of it all. Again, I can say that. You try to play the middle ground angle while making shite up then not conceding you made shite up when called on it.

This was the play all along.
And they get to grab a couple hundred mil for their troubles

DeChambeau flat out said it was a business decision. He made no mention of growing the game. I have yet to hear anyone discuss growing the game, except Norman, who has to say it.

So change is happening. That is what most wanted. They should now thank those that left instead of bitching about them. Looking at you Rory and JT.
Now they need to work on spreading the wealth down the line. Top 50 will already make plenty of money.

The ONLY reason the press was pressing so hard with each PGA golfer was to check their temperature. They wanted to specifically try to shame these guys in public if they didn't swear by their dead relatives they were staying. Brooks told that lady to basically stick it in her ear. Homie don't play that.

How do you know how much the PGA makes?
Well I know their network deals don't compare to the NFL, NBA, or MLB for starters, which is going to be the biggest chunk of revenue for any sports league. And their revenue doesn't touch several of the international soccer leagues. And why would the PGA Tour produce comparable revenues to those leagues? It's pretty clear it's not as popular worldwide or really even close to those sports. Even if they are secretive about releasing their exact accounting, I don't think it's taking much of a leap to say they're not generating the kind of money those leagues are.

Earlier in this thread it was discussed as to why the players won’t just come out and say “I’m doing it for the money.” Well Phil somewhat said that to Alan Shipnuck off the record and then Shipnuck exposed it out in the public and Phil was crucified by the media for it.
The fans didn’t care. No one booed him this last week in Boston.

I honestly don't know why people bring this up as if we, the consumers, have any control over who our country does business with and/or where we get our oil (or any other product). Politicians have been crooked since, well always. This isn't news nor is it a "gotcha" for anyone who mentions someone or some entity doing business with a country that person doesn't like. "oh yeah, did you say that when you filled up your car with gas last week."

It's crazy how these threads always go to 10 pages so quickly.
One side screaming "how could you cheer for this... it's going to ruin golf!"
The other side screaming "frick the PGA Tour, corporate America, and their hypocrisy!"
Don't get me wrong, I'm usually a part of it (I'm on the frick the PGA Tour side FWIW), but it's just crazy how fast these threads go saying the same shite over and over again.

Phil’s problem was he said “yeh these Saudis kill and murder and pillage, but frick bitches get money”
The right answer is “I’m doing it for the money. I don’t ask where the money comes from”

I'm guessing a lot of the PGA Tour money that goes to charities and is given back to the game of golf to grow it at the grass roots level will now need to be diverted to pay for bigger purses to keep the top guys happy.
They will get theirs, good for them. Not sure it's a good thing overall.

Brooks told everyone that was listening why he didn’t play in London. He had just gotten married and wasn’t playing golf that week. He gave no fake answer as to why he didn’t join LIV.
