I didn't really get his argument. He was basing it on Duncan's 16 year career being better than Shaq's due to longevity, but he used that rationale as to why he'd prefer Duncan on a 5 man all-time team. Shaq at his peak was clearly better than Duncan. That shouldn't even be debatable

Pippen didn't do well early against the Microwave & Dumars.

He's a great compliment, but hard for me to believe he's top 50 all time.

But it is debatable. You're doing it right now.

Different players but Shaq was an animal in the paint and would dominate everyone. No one could stop him.

Shaq > Duncan

I don't think anyone argues that. Shaq shouldve have just tried harder. Prime Bill Walton > prime Karl Malone. But Malone was a better player overall

Google search the word debate, then slowly re-read the entirety of my post. If you still don't get it, then I don't know what to tell you

Bill Simmons is awful. There are only so many pop culture references in one sentence my mind can take.

Duncan is still about 5000 career points behind Shaq (though he is about 120 rebounds ahead). So when we're talking total career, I still take Shaq. And peak, Shaq just crushes him.

Then there's the whole "different position" thing. Shaq is the best player of the past 30 years not named Jordan.

I guess his all-time team looks at their careers. An all-time team does not necessarily insinuate peak.

I think simmons top 5 team of the last 30 years was:
Jordan
Bird
Magic
Duncan
Hakeem

Shaq and kobe being the obvious ones missing
