The number I said didn’t include tonight.

Regardless. If you remove today’s game and game 7 of NLCS, he’s batting .174 (8 of 46). All I’m saying is that I don't think you can say this is the greatest postseason run of all time.
But yes. The 2 elite games I mentioned, however, are all time performances though.

Ohtani is tied with George Herman Ruth for most times reaching base in a postseason game: 7.

The former record for the most times a player has reached base in a single MLB postseason game was 7, held by Babe Ruth. He set this record during Game 2 of the 1926 World Series, in a game between the New York Yankees and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Ruth reached base 7 times, via 3 hits (including a double), 4 walks, and a hit-by-pitch.

Tonight, Ohtani is 4-4 with 3 BBs. Ohtani has 2 D, 1 S and a HR

Edit: I hope y’all don’t think I’m serious. Ohtani > Ruth

Also the only player to ever reach base 7 times in a postseason game

My mistake, I must have misheard the call

The actual postseason record is now shared by Ohtani and Lenny Dykstra in game 3 of the ‘93 NLCS. Not joking on this one

That isn’t how baseball works. But calling this the greatest postseason ever(up to this point) is the dumbest comment so far in this thread

He might be having the best single postseason.

Not even the Dodgers best postseason of all-time.

Post Season

quote:

In the NLCS against the New York Mets, Hershiser’s performance was nothing short of spectacular. He started games 1, 3, and 7, and even pitched in game 4 in relief to record a save. His crowning moment came in game 7, where he threw a complete game shutout, propelling the Dodgers to the World Series and earning him the NLCS MVP title.

In the NLCS, Hershiser pitched 24.2 innings with an ERA of 1.09.

The Dodgers faced the Oakland Athletics in the 1988 World Series. Hershiser pitched a shutout in Game 2, and in Game 5, the series clincher, Hershiser pitched a complete game, allowing only two runs.

In the World Series, Hershiser had a 2-0 with an ERA of 1.00, pitched 18 innings, and two complete games to take home the World Series MVP.

Hershiser is the only player to win the Cy Young Award, the NLCS MVP, and the World Series MVP in the same season.

And the Angels let him leave for nothing when they could have and should have gotten a bounty. Angels have been stuck with dipshit GM's for the past 15 years.

When he signed that ridiculous contract, I thought there would be no way his play would ever justify that much money. Now I’m not sure they paid him enough.

I can't argue it. Babe Ruth did both at a high level, but never I don't think - at the same time.

Speaking of Ruth, he had a postseason where he had:

.625 avg—1.375 slugging—2.0222 OPS

Now imagine if Ohtani constantly saw mid 80s fastballs.

Yes.

Hell let’s just look at the 2025 postseason , not all time

Vlad in 2025 postseason is batting:

.414 AVG—1.269 OPS

This board has got to settle down saying things after individual games.

Calling Ohtanis 2025 postseason right now the best ever is insane. It’s not even the best of 2025 at this point.
