Not sure why you're laughing. This isn't even a serious question. Hockey players are elite level athletes.

It’s pretty fricking disgusting seeing all these most assuredly non-Europeans on European teams.

The stars have absolutely shown up and impressed. Can’t remember a tournament where the stars have all consistently been awesome

I just wish the US ones had done better.

Hockey is also an attack sport and the players develop what the sport calls "hockey sense", which in soccer would be the ability to read and break down plays and make good decisions with the ball.
I watch soccer and I see the same concepts of triangulation, ball (puck) movement, breaking plays down into 2v1, defensive coverage concepts, fore check concepts, taking away passing lanes, etc, etc.
It's easy for me to read the play and predict where the ball is going next, where the weakness in coverage is, where to move the ball to create odd man situations, and creating time/space.
The sports are very similar in these concepts, and things happen much, much faster in hockey. Hockey players would definitely have the game sense and spatial awareness to be good soccer players.

My sister is a hockey Mom. All 3 of her kids play hockey in season and lacrosse off season. Keeps them in shape, similar hand eye skills and tactics.

Egypt got really screwed by bogus VAR foul disallowing their 3rd goal

He might look like an ogre, but he's recognizable. With guys like Messi playing elite at this age, the sport has never had this many elite superstars at the same time.
Idk. The late 90s - early 00s was loaded with icons.

I don’t know about compelling but it has been good programming outside of football season. The World Cup is the only time I ever watch soccer. And olympics.
Pretty dull otherwise

Yeah I didn't really understand his reaction to my assertion.
Hockey players are great athletes; I played rugby with a few ex-collegiate hockey guys
O&G industry had em down here forever
Lacrosse as well. I did Boy Scout camps as a kid at Rice,
That shite is exhausting i'm glad I focused on baseball . There are snacks in the dugout

Haaland is insane. And because he plays for Norway, he’s going under the radar a bit imo. Many people don’t even realize he’s currently tied with Messi and Mbappé for most goals scored in the tourney for that golden boot. Norway is making a deep run because they got a great goalkeeper and Haaland carrying them.
He’s been the top goal scorer in the Premier League in 3 out of the last 4 years and set the all-time Premier League record for goals scored in a season.
Every soccer fan knows who Haaland is like every NBA fan knows who Luka Doncic is.

Exactly. I am a hockey fan first, and a soccer fan distantly past that. But, knowing how the former works, I can understand how the latter functions with spacing, timing, and mathematical advantage.
Just like you don't have many hockey players go end-to-end to score, you can't do that so well in soccer, either.
Biggest difference is that the goalie in hockey has a bigger advantage than the keeper in soccer does.
Still, I've really enjoyed the WC, and I usually do. But this has likely encouraged me to start watching some Premier League in the fall. Only thing I don't like is that the Euro elitism is very reminiscent of Canadian elitism. We shut the Canucks up for a spell. The Euros are still laughing at us.

We shut the Canadians up a couple of times. MOI and this last Olympics. DGMR I love Canadians, and Canada but that was awesome. It will happen with soccer, but we're not there yet. The 2-deep roster needs to be a lot deeper.

Hockey players would probably excell across other sports best
Size, speed, feet coordination, hand eye coordination, toughness
If I had to choose someone to get picked up by an alien spacecraft and shipped off to participate in a Galactic Decathlon consisting of ten athletic events no one on Earth has ever played and the fate of the planet depends upon the outcome, I sure as shite wouldn’t pick a hockey player.

Every tournament has some controversy.
Overall it has exceeded expectations with some good matches that have gone down to the wire. The visiting fan reviews of America have been an added bonus.
